Yes, I am Ancano. The incident involving the Eye... it was quite unusual. Exciting, to have that much power at my fingertips... but dangerous, as I would later learn. I spent much of my time studying it, after its discovery. Too much time, perhaps. But it left me with knowledge that few possess.
All the time in the world would not have taught me its secrets, however. When my own efforts to tap into its power failed, I resorted to asking the Augur of Dunlain for assistance. He told me that I would need to cast a shock spell of some sort, while simultaneously siphoning the Orb's magicka to harness it.
