Thadred appreciation post
I just finished the third book in the series and let me just say: I am so happy Thadred didn't die. He carries this book's pacing on his back (along with my admiration). Don't get me wrong, I'm always down for a good romance with a bunch of existential dread thrown in for good measure, but switching to his POV always felt fantastic. You have the depressed couple, half of which spends literally the majority of the book in jail, and then you have the heroic man without his cane that destroys foes on a kelpie. A kelpie?! *I* was terrified of that thing. That thing would haunt my nightmares from the images it conjured when we were introduced to it. You're telling me a horse with the teeth and appetite of carnivores can transverse an area where space is an illusion for us mortals and come at you from anywhere, even if you could see into the horizon (which, let's be real, it's a forest, you couldn't), and it hunts to kill everything large that enters its space. And it sucks to be you, but you have no clue how to leave its space, because space is a joke here, and someone freaking tames the thing, and rides on its back, and gives it scratches, and uses it to get up, and there's no appreciation post for the epicness here? You made me revive an abandoned blog folks, what is this? Thadred deserves more appreciation and you know it. Can't wait to see more of him in the next installment.
