Celebrating Halloween Early
Matthew was out of town this year for Halloween so we had to do pictures of Judah in his costume early. Mimi and Papaw got him this cute pirate outfit with a sword and hat! He wasn't crazy about the hat but wore it for us for a bit. We "walked the plank" and he had a blast jumping off the table to his Daddy and me. He swung his sword like a champ and threw his hat like he had done it a million times (oh wait, he has, hehe). On Sunday, Mimi and Papaw took Judah around the neighborhood to friends and family to trick o` treat. He only hit 4 houses but got a ton of candy. I'm sure that his awesome family (Tracey & David, Ashley & Ian) were very generous! Thank you guys!!! He wouldn't say trick o` treat, though we practiced all weekend so I know he can. I'm sure his little brain just couldn't handle any other thoughts than, "want candy" and "more candy". We have a pumpkin full of his plunder and he KNOWS what's in it. The last 2 days I have found myself saying, "baby, not right this second ok. You just had a sucker and you haven't even had lunch yet", or "no Judah, you can't have any candy. It's only 8am", or "You will have to ask your Daddy when he gets home", because I can't think of any other ways to say no and when his Daddy gets home, if he says yes, I will have a second set of hands to corral the 'sugar zombie'. Halloween, the only time of year when kids are given permission to live in a sugar coma. At least Judah lets us brush his teeth afterwards! Here is our sweet pirate:

New Family pictures...well, we tried
Sunday after church we decided to try and take some family pictures. Judah was all dressed up in a beautiful pale blue outfit from Aunt Ellen and Uncle Jarad, and Matthew and I were in semi-matching clothes. The day was perfect as it was kind of over cast and Judah was in a wonderful mood. When we began preparing for the pictures we hit our first stumbling block. The little metal thing that attaches the camera to the tripod was missing. We looked high and low but couldn't find it anywhere. I kept trying to think of something else we could use to sit the camera on as I was set on getting these pictures. Matthew finally came up with the idea of having us sit on a blanket in the front yard and sit the camera on the front stoop. Perfect! Now that we had our backdrop and camera in place, all we needed was an attentive, smiley baby. Apparently that was too much to ask for. Wow! Judah was about as interested in sitting still as a dog is about getting spayed. He was all over the place and simply refused to smile unless being tickled, which, to my dismay, also triggered more wriggling. After about 15 minutes of trying our hardest to get the typical family portrait, we gave up and just started snapping away. To my delighted surprise, we got some wonderful shots. Matthew is a genius with the camera. My favorite is the new picture heading for the blog but here are some more that I love:
