An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It’s there! Finally! And now I can proceed to sleep (after signing a loan to indebt myself for 27 years, ah!).
(On a side note, it is locked to guest because I will not get over the last scrapping)
This one-shot is set between Connected Dots and New World (Master post here) :) Here’s AO3 summary because I’m too tired to write another one:
After the events of "Connected dots", the last issues of the new copyroids get worked on during the trial phase and Roll realizes she is once again on the sidelines. Now that Rockman's true identity is known, she questions her own. The years spent by the sides of her friends—by his side, especially—taught her many things and made her a navi she is deeply proud of being, but it now dawns on her that her pride comes at a price. Plagged with fears and wants a navi should not have in the first place, Roll struggles to draw the line between what she does for the operator she is made to please and what she does for herself. Is it really Meiru's wish to see her in the physical world, or is she using it as an excuse for her own convenience? Where does a perfect navi's behavior end and rule-breaking humanity begins? After all, she is a navi—a tool. And a defective tool should either be fixed or replaced.
