Rs 744 crore Power transformer contracts raise supplier compliance burden
Power transformer contracts in Telangana are moving toward tighter technical validation through TGTRANSCO’s parallel 50 MVA and 80 MVA transformer tenders. Together, the packages cover 96 nos 132/33 kV power transformers with a combined ECV of Rs 744.69 crore.
The 50 MVA tender covers 50 units in four lots, while the 80 MVA tender covers 46 units in four lots. Both packages require ONAN/ONAF-cooled transformers with OLTC, RTCC cubicles, EHV-grade oil, fittings, accessories and NIFPS provision. The 80 MVA package adds temperature monitoring and air-cell rupture relay, making its protection package tighter.
Delivery is staggered by lot, with the 80 MVA tender carrying sharper first-unit timelines than the 50 MVA package. EnergylineIndia.com records this as a major Distribution infrastructure tender because the buyer is using eAuction, no bid-security exemption, 10% performance security and long warranty exposure to discipline suppliers. Power transformer contracts now require type-test reports, dynamic short-circuit evidence, design-review calculations and heat-dissipation studies. Power transformer contracts also include severe loss penalties. Power transformer contracts may favour established manufacturers with tested designs and strong documentation. Power transformer contracts will be difficult for weak-liquidity bidders.
