I’m sorry to say, but your first mistake is reading posts from mainstream websites. it’s an unfortunate phenomenon with SW that mainstream websites are always promoting either the most off-base, irrelevant and/or batshit theories or else jumping in 3 years late with theories we’ve been talking about for ages (case in point: an article was published recently that posits that Ben is the Skywalker in TROS, as if this is groundbreaking information and not something we were all told...4 years ago, in TFA).

and I’m not going to link to metas because at this point, metas aren’t needed. I suggest just tuning out the noise and going back and watching the movies with your own common sense, because they more than speak for themselves. and if that’s not enough there’s things like:

Rian calling the hand touch scene the closest to a sex scene we’ll get in a SW movie

Rian giggling delightedly when someone says they’re a reylo fan and saying ‘it’s all in the movie’

Adam asking if Ben has ever kissed a girl before in preparation for his scenes with Rey

JJ’s TFA commentary

the fact that the intimate and emotional Force bond is set up to still be present, even if latent for a while, after Snoke’s death and into TROS 

Daisy saying in one of the VF articles that Rey’s Force sensitivity still sets her apart a bit from the Resistance (read: Ben is the only one who can understand that very foundational and defining part of her)

Adam saying this in the TROS Vanity Fair article (that’s explicitly romance-coded language--no one talks about ‘pursuing’ platonic relationships lmao):

In the TFA Commentary JJ Abrams says Rey originally calls Kylo a monster after he says "I can show you the ways of the force", and since Rian Johnson was almost done writing the story when the movie was filmed, we can say that the original context of Ben saying "you have that look in your eyes, from the forest... when you called me a monster" was from THIS moment:

yeah he said: “And we’re back in the forest with the story we really care about, the focus of the story which is Rey and Ren.” He was contrasting it to Poe’s trench run–really just making a commentary on how pew-pew space battles are the setting of SW but not the heart of it, what it’s really about. but yeah, that quote is extremely telling either way–the central dynamic of this trilogy is Rey and Ben and everything that happens between them.
