Using a secondary image of fungi, I replicated the pattern on the mushroom using batik and brusho ink on calico fabric, brushing the darkest brown at the top of the fabric brushing it all down to the bottom so it would go from light to dark as in a gradient, like the picture portrays. I like this sample as I feel it resembles the pattern on the mushroom in the image well and it could potentially be used as a base fabric for a few designs, which is my main idea.

A time-lapse of myself folding over small pleats on organza fabric, quite close together and sewing. This would later create the impression of the slender, brown gills underneath a mushroom.

ISSEY MIYAKE A_POC - 2007

Designers Issey Miyake and Dai Fujiwara asked us to create a photograph that would illustrate their concept of A-POC (A Piece of Cloth) wherein the finished fashion garment is woven into the bolt of cloth. It was to be part of an exhibition by Miyake Design Studio at the Museu de Arte Moderna in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
