Creative time has been hard to cobble together in more than 30 min bursts this year. Added to this gradually over the course of several weeks
11, 12 16, 19 for your guys! (i just saw the Charater ask post) (‘jackdaw)
Hi jack my head has been empty this whole time i am finally trying to answer these. you also asked some hard questions lol
11. If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?
i realize the heart of this question is actually really "what would make them seem ooc?" For Lemel, it would be not appreciating a dad-joke, calling Tevane "Tevane" in any situation less serious than life-or-death, using (derogatory) toward Tev, and not wanting to touch the potentially dangerous new thing. For Tev, it would be not defaulting to formal speech/generally using slang unironically (he mostly uses slang in situations where he can butcher it on purpose to make everyone mad), not picking up after himself or anyone else, literally any form of solo dancing, being very opinionated (when sober).
12. What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!
i can't be specific man, that's too specific. Lemel likes dad jokes, as mentioned, as well as similarly goofy pranks like updog. You can usually get Tev by saying something absurd and unexpected (not the same thing as blurting out completely random irrelevant things). The literal only specific example I can think of is a scene where he's having a fairly serious discussion with Lemel but they abruptly make a related innuendo and he corpses instantly. I will not get more specific than this. Also he only busts out laughing like that for good friends, the exact same joke told by like a coworker or smth would just irritate him.
16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?
Lemel grew up arguing with their older sister. And their teachers. And their classmates. And their mom. They will argue with anyone, for fun even, so you can only imagine what it's like in their imagination. Brennan Lee Mulligan I Will Die On Any Hill dot jpeg. Don't they get tired? Debatable. Extremely debatable. Ranges from critical reviewers on their research to annoying people in the comment section to imaginary Snatcher and Moonjumper about leaving Tevane alone.
Tevane's internal arguments mostly are with himself tbh. It's most frequently Tevane vs Depression Tevane, ngl.
19. What would they do if stuck in a room with the person they’ve been avoiding?
Depends on the reason for avoidance. If it's an avoidance situation like with Tevane in chapter 14 where they're trying to cut ties on purpose, they just are super fucking awkward while trying to pretend they don't care. If they're avoiding someone because they fucking hate that person, idk man, they will probably start a fight bc they were avoiding that person to stop themself from starting a fight. Lemel's not really an avoidant person per se because if they know there's a problem with someone, they either want to continue having that problem (i.e. they hate you) or they want to stop having the problem (i.e. they like you) and actually can get kind of annoying about trying to figure out how to solve the problem if the other person wants to keep avoiding it. If they are behaving avoidantly, they are in denial about having a problem at all, which I feel is a different nuance.
Similarly, if Tevane is avoiding someone because he hates them, it's like the other person doesn't fucking exist, the man does not need a phone to ghost you. If it's guilty avoidance like with Hat Kid, then he'll cowgirl up and deal with the situation, so honestly, you're more likely to get a heart to heart with him with this tactic.

I've thought about the nature of Lemel and Tevane's relationship for almost as long as they have existed as a duo. (It's kind of fun to remember that they were created independently of each other as one-offs and only really Became themselves after I stuck them together.)
In particular, it's got me to think quite a bit about the distinctions between romantic and platonic feelings, given that Lemel is firmly aroace while Tevane is not. Lemel is indifferent about sex, but on the aro side they're profoundly romance-repulsed and make this quite clear as soon as they realize they're feeling very attached to Tev. Despite this, they still desire physical and emotional affection and intimacy that could easily be mistaken for a desire for romance, and upon expanding their backstory, this seeming complication has caused rifts in past relationships where the other person becomes upset with what feels like mixed signals. As a defense mechanism, Lemel feels like they have to understand the exact nature of their feelings, every crevice and corner of it so they have an explanation for why things that seem to contradict make sense for them.
Tevane...doesn't really concern himself with any of that, quite honestly. First off, he does in fact value platonic relationships quite a bit because hey! Someone likes and cherishes him! That's terrific! Why's it got to be a specific type of love? Second, at his stage in life and considering all of his Baggage, he's not even prioritizing romantic love anyway. Been there done that it was kinda butts and made him feel bad so nah not about it.
Lemel tries to take pains to make distinctions about his feelings about them, and he's kind of like "do I have to be able to name it?" He loves them, he cares about them, he's committed to them...whatever word they're most comfortable with. For once, he doesn't want to overcomplicate things. What matters is what do they want the relationship to feel like and how they want to express it. Tevane is not in love with them, but he's also not not in love with them, yknow? It just is what it is. Whatever they want it to be. He's just happy to be here.
Once Lemel realizes they can just be themself and not have to worry that they're accidentally sending the wrong message or getting too close, and that they can just talk things through if necessary, life becomes way more comfortable. Maybe it doesn't need a name or a specific qualifier as long as the two of them know what they are and what they want.

lemel and tevane belong to @lemonadesoda
Fancy outfit time :)
Inside joke I have with @lemonadesoda on their OC Tevane
For the OC ask!
Tev: 10, 26, and E!
Nanami: 3, 31, and H!
Lemel: 8, 29, and G!
Thanks Rose!
Tevane
10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
He is most likely to lie to his parents or sometimes his boss lmfao, though he prefers lies by omission or downplay rather than blatant untruths because there's more plausible deniability so uhh probably his most frequent lies were things like "Work is too busy, I haven't had a chance to visit or keep in touch" when his mom would bitch to him about coming home for family events. Not exactly *untrue* in that he technically could have taken leave for things but he never did, for personal reasons or otherwise. Does it haunt him? Not explicitly, but it shows in his shit awful mental health so-
26. What is their preferred mode of transportation?
Spaceship! Especially if personally piloting. He looks and acts like an accountant but turns into a specific type of Car Guy while piloting a ship.
E. Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
It's a tough question. I think I would like hanging out with him if I managed to get past his shell and if he acted like himself, but unlike Lemel, I'm probably not nosy enough to get there and neither is he, so we would pass each other like ships in the night. On the flip side, I think he would appreciate my good time management and attention to detail but would be ultimately kind of understimulated lol I don't think I'm insane enough for him. Our worksonas would NOT get along however! Captain mode is an uptight bitch LOL
Nana!! Yeah let's talk about Nana!
3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
She likes when Tevane reads to her. I can totally see her digging like Tamora Pierce or something. She loves hero stories and chosen ones and creative worldbuilding ideas.
31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
Hmm, this is sort of hard to answer since I haven't figured out the full plot of her story yet, but nominally I'll say Tev and Lemel in her main story because those are the strongest relationships she has and her family of choice etc. I suppose it's valid to say because the story does partly revolve around her realizing they are the people she's most glad to know.
H. What trait do you admire most?
Her creativity and vision! Can be a bit pie in the sky about things, but not everything can be driven by pure rationality and it's important to dream big and paint with bold bright strokes.
Lemel
8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child
Stop taking things apart (did not stop this, just figured out how to put the things back together). Stop walking out of class just because you don't agree with the teacher (reluctantly stopped this).
29. Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
Ooh, this question would make them fidget. I think they're not personally sure. Deep down, they're a bit insecure about whether they do what they do because of a strong sense of ideals or if it's all just selfishness with a thick coating of justification. From an outside perspective though, I think they're doing as well as any person could in terms of living authentically. No one is ever going to match up to what their personal vision of a perfect person acts like but I think some people are far more consistent with their own values than others and I think Lemel is one of them. They believe in fairness and freedom for everyone, that everyone should be empowered to live their best life and that inherently means no one should be able to restrict others' empowerment. So they instinctively rebel against things that impinge upon autonomy and personhood.
G. What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
Like as a person? I think they're too overbearing of a personality for someone like me who really doesn't like chaos. Like I can see myself finding them annoying LKDJSFLJD but they're not Bad with people so they might read the room okay and be more chill and we could talk about science. On a meta level, nothing really bugs me about them, I feel like their flaws are important to their character and I like them better for having them and for being complicated and a bit bitchy and a bit of a disaster at times.
