The app is called TEUIDA and I found it on Reddit when I was looking for Korean language learning apps. [I finally understand why some are going 'hungeul my beloved'.]

TEUIDA doesn't just teach Korean but Japanese and Spanish too! [haven't tried the Spanish lessons, but I have tried Korean and Japanese.]

In my previous post I asked about Pimsleur and if it was worth the cost, and after that I haven't touched Pimsleur again- [I was going back and forth on doing a year subscription but decided againts it since I don't have money to spare for it- the broke life for me-]

The reason why I'm bringing up Pimsleur is that I think TEUIDA is a good alternative, great even!

It feels more interactive than Pimsleur, since you're looking at a video instead of just listening to audio. When I was doing the first day's lesson, I felt like I was actually in a class, interacting with someone, and getting excited when I said a word right! [also getting praised for getting it right, but that's besides the point-]

As someone who needs a class environment, this is perfect!

You can also get by without the subscription! [yes, there are ads that pop up at the end of a lesson, but that's expected.]

You get a key every 16 hours after you've used a key to unlock a lesson. So far as I know, every day there is only one lesson you need to use a key on. [Like day 1 there are 3 lessons and only one needs a key- the lessons per day are bite sized, like 4 new words a day? maybe more-]

I don't know what the subscription is like- All I know is you get unlimited keys and no ads? There are more, but I don't know what it is, since I'm only looking at the free stuff-

Mostly TEUIDA is there for speaking practice, to get you comfortable with speaking.

I know I have trouble with talking to people, but it's even worse when it's a language I'm not used to or confident with-

TEUIDA's motto is language learning starts with speaking, and that's basically what it is.

I feel like I've made more progress learning japanese with Teuida than what I did using Renshuu. Renshuu is still my go-to, but I don't use it as my main learning resource.

Being able to say the words helps me remember them better rather than just being able to read them.

And since I am also technically reading at the same time when doing lessons, I've started recognising kanji during lessons and reviews, though I am still struggling with kanji that has too many lines-

Yeah, there will be either Italian or English speaking guides, but we'll also have some free time during the day where we can move on our own and I'd really love to not have to rely all the time on google translate.

Do you recommend any app for learning Korean?

Asking for app bc I'll try to study during slow times at work (now I'm a cafe owner and I work 12hrs/day lmao) so it'd be easier to use.

Should I go back to Duolingo? I heard that now it's riddled with ai and so do many apps...

Once upon a time I tried Tandem but felt too much as failed dating app plus I heard now it's even worse if you do not pay for the premium version... but the idea of a language exchange app sounded nice bc I could ask for help if I didn't u derstand sth...
