Edward Elric has tetrachromacy

"Shrimp colors"
I think Ed as a known tetrachromat and people knowing about the shrimp colors thing would be great
People would never stop calling him a shrimp lol

Okay now I must know about the extra cone online test? BecUse this is something I have long suspected about myself, I have perfect colour vision but seem to see much more nuance in colours than literally everyone I know???
https://www.xrite.com/hue-test
caveat: being a tetrachromat does not necessarily mean you perceive all these colors. It's a complicated phenomenon, but this is the best test I've seen. there's definitely some sort of phenomenon where some folks can see more colors than others, so this is as close as we'll get to an online test of that
funny thing i just thought about
so my boyfriend is colorblind and i have tetrachromacy which makes me able to see more colors than the average person
i think thats a funny coincidence
no jk i donât believe in coincidences
Invisible Dye Inside the Power Lines
inspired by "Tetrachromacy" by King Gizzard the Lizard Wizard.
Ok but I am so mad right now because we were all lied to about tetrachromacy. Itâs not just âoh theyâre better at telling the difference between very similar colorsâ NO. Tetrachromats literally see hues that we canât, like human peacock mantis shrimp. Think about it. Normal peopleâs eyes only have the cones to see red, green, and blue light, and make up the other colors by combining those ones together. (Colorblind people have one or more of those cones missing, which is why they have trouble distinguishing between different colors.)
Tetrachromats can see âyellowâ light. But the âyellowâ they see isnât actually the yellow youâre seeing on your screen right now, because the âyellowâ we see is just a mixture of red and green, whereas they actually have a separate cone in their eyes dedicated to seeing the type of light us pathetic mortals think is yellow.
Imagine if someone tried to convince that magenta and green are the same color because green is between red and blue on the color spectrum and you can get magenta by mixing red and blue light. Thatâs what you probably look like to a tetrachromat when you act like yellow and yellow are the same colors.
Is your mind blown? Well, Iâm about to blow it even more. Imagine all the new colors tetrachromats can make by mixing the yellow they see with red, green, and blue.
(Oh, and if you found out you were a tetrachromat because of a test you took on the internet, no you didnât. Computer monitors can only display red, green, and blue light.)
