Workshop: working with the community on art environment and economy
Test Sites is Arts Catalyst’s ambitious nationwide three-year investigation into complex matters of concern connected with environmental change – such as flooding, pollution and species loss – and their impact on local culture, wellbeing and ecology.
Led by the artist collaborative project Alternative School of Economics and curated by Arts Catalyst with the collaboration of The Arts Development Company, this Test Sites, Poole Workshop is the second in a series of workshops aimed at exploring the area of and around Poole Harbour through curatorial co-enquiries and participatory action research. It will take place on 8th July (location TBC).
The workshop will bring together groups and communities that have developed alternative approaches to the locality and its economy, in order to share knowledge and practice, and draw connections between ecology, economy and social sphere. People who have developed particular forms of engagement with the area as individuals or as part of groups, through projects and research, are invited to participate. Through the workshop we want to explore already existing practices of self-organisation, DIY culture and spontaneous activation in the region and how they relate to its main industries such as oil, fishing and tourism.
