Police in Kano have nabbed notorious robbery and kidnap syndicate, in addition to arresting other hoodlums, that had been terrorising innocent and peace-loving indigenes and residents. Parading the suspects at a press conference in Kano yesterday, the state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, said the armed robbery syndicate was r responsible for frequent onslaughts on residents of Kurna, Bachirawa, Tudun Bojuwa, and Tudun Fulani led by one Auwalu Isa, alias Lulu, a jail bird, just released from prison. Majiya said the suspects, armed with cutlasses, knives and scissors, carried out the robbery on a newly wedded couple and dispossessed them of cash, phones, textile materials and other valuables in addition to attacking a neighbour, carting away his Lifan motorcycle. He said the suspects had confessed to committing the crimes while exhibit of two pairs of trousers, one jumper, two wax materials, six different cutlasses, with which the victim was injured, adding that the victim was admitted to a hospital in Kano responding to treatment, while investigation was in progress. He, however, stated that the Police had successfully burst a syndicate of thugs, popularly known as Yandaba, who attacked innocent residents of Sheka Gidan Kaji and Yarkasuwa with dangerous weapons inflicting injuries on three victims and damage 14 vehicles in addition to carting away valuable properties worth millions of naira. Majiya said the police had also descended and arrested a notorious kidnap syndicate led by one Jabir Usman Sule and Bashir Aminu of Chiranchi Quarters, for criminally conspiring and abducting a four-year-old kid at Dorayi Quarters, Kano, and dropped a note demanding for two N2 million. He said the coordinated effort of police detectives had led to the rescue of the victim safely without paying a single penny, while the two suspects were arrested and confessed to committing the crime, affirming that once investigations were completed, they would be charged to court.
