❝ not everything needs an explanation. i care about you. i don’t have to sit here and figure out why. i just do. so maybe you should try just accepting it too. ❞

for once, eddie doesn’t know what to say. maybe he’s just trying to push her away. all the comments and remarks about how eddie munson is just like his father, ( never going to amount to anything, never going to be a good guy ) are starting to overwhelm him. chrissy cunningham is good, all around. she doesn’t need someone like him weighing her down, damaging her reputation, and undoubtedly causing rifts between those she cares about most. but it’s obvious chrissy’s tired of eddie trying to push her away. and when she says it like that, eddie feels his chest tighten. the girl you’ve pined after for years saying she cares about you ... he used to think this only happens in movies. guys like him don’t get the girl, even as a friend. “i still don’t understand it,” he admits softly, cheeks flaming red at the admission of feelings. but now he’s starting to feel the tension release in his shoulders, and he no longer is increasing the distance between the two of them. “i don’t think i ever will, but ...” he trails off, looking down as he twists a ring around his finger. “but i do know that i care about you too.” and if he maybe cared about her more than he already did, he would be adamant about her staying away from someone like him.
