LB&SCR Terrier Class loco 'Ewell' No. 60 by Frederick McLean Via Flickr: An old photograph of London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) 0-6-0T tank locomotive 'Ewell' No. 60. Officially a 'A1 class' engine, it and the other 49 of the class were more commonly known as 'Terrier class' engines. The photo reverse is annotated with "at Littlehampton", but there is no photographer name, if anyone knows who the photographer was please message me their name so I can credit them. Thanks. Because of the condition of the engine I assume this was taken towards the end of its service. No. 60 (later renumbered 660) was a 'Terrier class' 0-6-0T engine named 'Ewell', designed by William Stroudley, built by the Brighton Railway Works, and new to the LB&SCR in Nov 1875. The locomotive was withdrawn from service in Dec 1902 (another source says Jun 1903) and sold to George Cohen & Sons, it was later broken up at their Redhill scrapyard.
