Palpatine is an overgrown toddler and should resign
So while I still can’t quite get over that you Americans actually went and elected Donald Trump president (although I guess one ought to blame your electoral system rather than the popular vote, but still, come on), it’s not like I can ignore that our own backyard is on fire. Granted, ours is a backyard fire while yours is a massive-ass forest fire since you’re so gigantic and influential and we’re... not, but I really prefer my backyard non-burning anyway. But unfortunately our prime minister is a tiny boy who enjoys playing with matches.
So Palpatine’s cabinet recently decided to fund the black hole that is the Talvivaara (or Terrafame) mine with another bunch of tax-payer money. The mine is an unworkable, unprofitable environmental hazard that should have been shut down ages ago, but has kept getting funded for some mysterious reason.
This time around however, it actually came to light that a bunch of Palpatine’s relatives stand to benefit a great deal from the mine being kept running, as their steel company would be supplying it for a substantial amount of money. Which of course makes it grossly unethical for Palpatine to participate in the decision to fund the mine, which he did anyway. When this was revealed he of course claimed he had nooo idea that the decision would benefit his relatives, but I don’t think too many people bought that.
So obviously this created quite a stir with the media giving him some flack, one participant being our public broadcasting service Yle, which we all pay taxes for and is supposed to be kept free from influence by politicians. Which is why the stirring intensified when little baby Palpatine threw a complete hissy-fit over the critique he received and sent Yle about 20 e-mails blasting their ass and telling them his trust in them is zero because their meanie poopypants article had made some citizens send him some negative feedback. As prime minister, you cant do that. You are not allowed to pressure the media to portray you in a more positive light, as prime minister you’re bound to get critiqued and you need to put on your big boy pants and stay the fuck away from the freedom of the press. If you find the allegations false, critique them, but you do not get to tell the public broadcasting service what to do.
Seriously, it’s like the man’s a toddler who’s never been told “no” in all his life. I hope the current stirring and strike threats get so loud that he’ll finally have to resign, because he’s obviously unfit for his position. I doubt it will happen since the entire cabinet is corrupt at the moment, but a girl can dream. Either way, fuck you Palpatine, you big-ass baby.
