I just found this brass ensemble of all women and they are fucking amazing and wonderful. I saw another post a couple days ago analyzing the reasons why there are significantly less women (especially brass players) hired in professional orchestras. Iβm not even a brass player, and when I first watched this video I will admit I was actually kind of weirded out by seeing female trombonist, tuba players, trumpet players, etc. And itβs because the norm for most professional orchestras is to have men playing in brass section. From elementary school, the instruments are given assigned genders (for example, the girls MUST play flute and boys MUST play tuba) and this impacts the way we perceive people who break these norms. Anyway, tangent aside, this is a talented group of women and please check out what they are doing because it can inspire young girls to take an interest in an instrument they otherwise would be afraid to try because of how others may perceive them.
