The Tenouchi of Jodan Katate Men
This is a post from Facebook, as they are hard to retrieve, I'm putting it here. It’s from the Chiyukan Gekiken Dojo in Tokyo:
Question: When striking with a single-hand men, my wrist tends to shake after the strike, and I can't achieve a tight technique. Are there any countermeasures or practice methods?
Answer: Please change the position of your hand (te no uchi). If you can control the position of your hand (te no uchi) and shinai firmly, your wrist will naturally stabilize.
In Photo 1, always position the striking area of your left hand above the grip (tsuka) without fail.
In Photo 2, it's the same with a shinai , but firmly control the blade's edge with the side of your thumb. If this is weak, the blade's trajectory will deviate.
In Photo 3, it's about the key points of the power in your hand during striking. There are no other points in your hand besides these two points, so avoid unnecessary actions.
Also, this is crucial, but you should grip the shinai firmly only at the moment of striking. If you grip the shinai too tightly before striking, your left elbow won't extend, and you'll end up striking with it bent. Always extend the elbow first before gripping. The time between extending and gripping is only 0.1 seconds. If you follow this order, you can strike with a sharply extended surface.
For your reference!

New video! This shows you how to practice tenouchi with both hands. Tenouchi becomes really difficult when you use both hands because it's hard to know when you should relax and when you should tighten your hands. In this video, I am sharing ideas and methods to get the hang of tenouchi.
