THE DAY HAD been long, the battles exhausting. Weary as she was, however, the princess found herself unable to sleep. Such a thing was common, her deepest thoughts often running rampant the moment that she tried to seek any sort or reprieve. Instead, she had decided to remain in the king’s company for the time being. It was strange, really ------ she found an odd sort of COMFORT in his presence. Of course, she couldn’t have expected him to begin to drift off so suddenly.

    ❝ JOSHUA?❞ She’s alerted by the gentle pressure against her shoulder, ruby hues fluttering as a mix of surprise  ( and maybe a hint of concern )  touches her features. Starlit tresses move with the shift of regal bearings, though she finds herself unable to DISTURB HIM. He looks so peaceful... A soft simper touches rosette lips before a content sigh is released from her lungs.  

         ❝ NEVERMIND ------ if you’re tired, I don’t mind you using me as a pillow. ❞

HE HAD ALREADY snatched one kiss from her. There was some sneaking suspicion that he was simply teasing her,  ( yet again )  playing around just to rouse some sort of reaction from her. Well, it still worked ------ her burning cheeks were proof enough of that. Rubies avert their gaze in ASHAMED BASHFULNESS, regal head ducking as soft rosettes press together, forming a thin line. He wasn’t being fair. Goodness, to think that she enjoyed the company of such a cruel man...

   ❝ M-MAYBE NOT THIS time, Joshua.❞

There was something decidedly awkward about running face first into someone while backpacking around Germany, trying to meet up with your foster mother, and then running into said person again while waiting tables at a high school friend’s cafe in Paris. (which actually hadn’t been what suzaku was expecting shirley to cash that long-ago favor in for. desperate times and all that.) 

Clearing his throat, Suzaku smiled and hoped it didn’t look to strained.
