Okay, spoilers, but just a thought…

I’m intrigued with the direction Morro’s character is taking, and their banter so far has been really fun. While I was writing out this thought, their back-and-forth just kinda… wrote itself and now must be added to the story somewhere XD

(You know what I’m constantly reminded of? The fact that adults are just kids in bigger bodies. Yes, Morro is the adult in the room. Yes, he should be [and usually is] the more responsible one. But at the end of the day, he just wants to goof off with his favorite cousin.

“Dude, I’m your only cousin.”

“Doesn’t make you any less my favorite.” ;D

“Weirdo.”

“Goofball.”

“Emu.”

“…emu?”

“…shush…”)

…y’know when you’re trying to say something but another word gets in your head before it makes it out of your mouth and it comes out as a completely different word?

Yeah, Lloyd’s never living this down XD

The Just Write challenge!

For me, the goal is to get and keep myself out of perfectionistic writer’s block by word barfing regularly. Does it work? Only when I’m actually regularly participating 😅

Anyways, these are the rules I set for myself. I have a bad habit of editing as I go, which is a significant factor in slowing down my writing progress and motivation, so I figured “if I force myself to write in small chunks and not edit them, maybe I’ll actually get stuff written!”

(Spoiler alert: it IS actually working. I’m 20k words deep and it’s still going 😅)

Challenge Rules:

1: Make one new entry a day. Only one.

2: Just write about the first thing that pops into your head. Who cares if it sounds stupid, write it anyway.

3: Try to work on it at various times during the day.

4: Have at least a minimum of 50-100 words per entry, but try to make it as long as possible. Remember, longer can mean more ideas to glean from later!

5: Try to write the whole thing with no editing (editing being no changing any wording or formatting that has already been added) until you finish it, and try to have minimal backspace usage.

6: Do not backspace a whole section or sections just because you don't think it works. Find a way to make it work.

7: You may continue writing an entry after its day is over, as long as you also work on the entry for the current day.

literally as soon as I started reading this I thought

This idea won’t leave me alone and it keeps trying to sneak itself into my scheduled writing even though it needs to wait it’s turn aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Anyway.

May I present to you:

Reality Check Sequel (…name pending…) Description

When mysterious ghost sightings start popping up around Ninjago City, Lloyd and the ninja are led on a wild goose chase until they find the source of the reports: Morro?!?

The team has to race against the clock and figure out what happened to the master of wind before something much worse emerges from the city’s shadows…

Hmmm, possibly. They do sound a bit better in my head, but there’s still not that click yet.

I dunno, I’ll think it over and I guess you guys will find out what I choose when the next one-shot is finished 😅

I’m so conflicted on this. Like, this has been such a passion project since the beginning of the year and I was so excited that I had a story that was looking like it would actually get finished. And I REALLY want this year to be the year I finally finish something long.

But at the same time I’m at a point where irl stuff has changed, I’m in a different environment, and ideas aren’t coming as naturally as they did in the old environment. I work really well with routines, and I haven’t yet found a routine that works with me here.

…

…man, why is it that getting permission from random internet people means more than getting permission from myself? 🥲

I’ll go ahead and schedule today’s entry since I already started on it, but after that I will be taking a break from this story. I’ll try to start again after a week, but if it goes longer it’ll definitely not be more than two weeks. I really don’t want to let this story die, and I guess if it means stepping away for a bit then that’s what I’ll do.
