It's a grey, rainy day here at Casa #DeeBeeUs™. Luckily I have my 2020 Fender CustomShop '68 Thinline Tele (with its @tomsvintagestraps strap) and 1970 Marshall Model2022 fired up. They are keeping me warm and giving my neighbours (and air conditioner...) something to cry about.

…and then things got just a little bit crazier. Firmly in the never-have-I-ever category: 1971 Fender Telecaster Thinline in its original Kelly Green finish with purple pearloid pickguard. And under that custom color green finish? An all-mahogany body. The Thinline-specific custom colors weren’t even really on our radar until quite recently, and kudos to @wellstrungguitars and @fendercollection for their recent deep dive on these. Shout out to @TerryFoster for IDing this custom color for us too, because hey, we know many things, but will never shy away from learning from a community of gracious experts. #TeleTuesday with my 2020 #CustomShop #TelecasterThinline from @sherwoodkw. . Natural light only, 66 mm, f/2.8, 1/100th second at ISO100. . Photo phun: obviously the light was nice and bright by this window as I was able to use a very low ISO, although the aperture had to be wide open to get an adequate exposure. I don't usually like using such a large aperture because unless the guitar is flat-on, directly facing the camera a whole bunch of it is going to be out of focus. For example, zoom in here and you can see the saddles are in sharp focus but the strap button area is all "bokeh". That area is maybe an inch or two further away from the camera than the bridge area, and yet totally fuzzy. Welcome to the world of shallow depth of field. Population: f/2.8! . Shallow depth of field can be artistic...but I find sometimes it can be overused to make blah photos *appear* more "artistic"! I guess like any photographic effect (or guitar effect, for that matter...), if overused, becomes annoying? Except for wah of course. There's never too much wah. . I don't mind the shallower depth of field in this case though. Even though anything above the neck pickup on the guitar is blurry, it serves to de-emphasize the background and draw the eye into the guitar. I supposed if I hadn't cropped it so tightly to the guitar body, that effect of drawing the eye in would be more obvious.
