I'll be sharing work based on the novel I'm writing this Friday as part of the TedxPittsburgh Women's event. I am there due to the good work of Sandra Gould Ford, my writing teacher while I was on sabbatical at the ACJ in 2010-2011. She'll be giving a talk and I'll share my work afterwards in order to showcase what her teaching allowed. Without her I wouldn't have this opportunity. Literally everything I've done can be traced back to her efforts, from winning a PEN Prison Writing Award to getting accepted to the Writer's Foundry MFA in Brooklyn. None of that happens--right out the gate none of that happens--without Sandra's guidance. Very grateful.
