I just wasn’t into the rap battles so I skipped them since they became a bit repetitive. BUT I actually really liked the movie and it’s quite realistic. It’s not new at all (from 2019) but I just watched it and the cinematography is lowkey peak. The acting done by genuinely every single person is really great too. Don’t come for me but Alia did great… I actually felt really sad seeing her situation😭. I also think Ranveer was perfect for this role because he carried himself in a way… things that are usually a bit corny or awkward just seemed cool and normal because of him and his energy. Ofc Ranveer always looks really good but can we talk about his hair?! At the end of the edit, he genuinely looks like Flynn Rider especially with that shirt. He’s just so good looking (he’s why I started watching the movie).🫰

Ok now I REALLY want to rant about their toxic relationship. These are all just my opinions btw. I also want to know your thoughts and feelings. There will be spoilers below! ⚠️

Ik Safeena is lowkey crazy and took things too far but I can’t get over the fact that Murad isn’t portrayed as even somewhat toxic. Maybe I’m overthinking it but she was shown as a villain while no one really addressed his actions. He literally cheated and then lied to her about where he was and refused to admit his mistake when she asked. She always took the first steps. And she called him after hurting Sky. I don’t think he would’ve talked to her if she hadn’t stepped forward. He only admitted to cheating and apologized to her when she was about to get married to another guy. I just don’t see how that counts as a happy ending.

She literally supported him so much and gave him her iPad and time. Ik that sounds a bit stupid but the iPad is a big deal to me. She lied to her parents multiple times for him. And he isn’t shown giving her anything (I would’ve let something small slide too). I always just saw her yearning and it felt like he didn’t love her nearly as much as she did. What’s even worse is she had so much going for her. She was pretty, confident, hardworking, and intelligent. I was so happy seeing her start focusing on her academics. And then she got that one marriage match…

I genuinely thought she would go through with it. Not because she moved on but because she wanted to make Murad jealous. I was supporting her for one second because I wanted him to hear about this marriage from his friend and grovel so badddd. And then she opened her mouth. WHY?! It’s so sad how desperate she was. She directly brought him up. I thought she was going to be indirect and make him jealous. But nooo.🫨

Ok I was actually surprised at Murad’s reaction when his friend relayed Safeena’s threat. What’s sad is that’s the bare minimum and it was such a mild reaction. I was surprised to see him even briefly stick up for their love. What made me the most upset was when they “patched up”… She kissed him before even sorting anything out. And she didn’t even flinch to the fact that he made out with Sky. Previously, she made a big deal whenever he avoided her questions and even injured Sky. That’s why I thought she would be quite upset. She proceeds to joke about how she has a free cheating card now 🤦‍♀️. I had hope but ig that’s my fault.

I appreciate Sky somewhat tbh. Ok ik Sky isn’t really a girl’s girl but she tried to explain things to Safeena (something I wish Murad had done). She also backed off when he said Safeena was his childhood or smth like that. Then why did u cheat? I know Sky also messed up because she knew he was committed. But I appreciate that she backed off from him, for the good of both him and herself. I like to think that she has some self respect and that’s why she backed off….. AND I appreciate Moeen? I think that’s his name. He told Murad to stop being a coward and tell Safeena the truth. He was lowkey a chill guy… not as selfish as I thought at all.

Lastly whyyyyy do I feel like Safeena would’ve been great with the marriage alliance guy (Murad’s friend). Remember he unknowingly complimented her looks when she teased him. They seem to have a comfortable friendship and it doesn’t look like he thinks of her as Murad’s gf but more as his own friend. The night she hit Sky Safeena was just sitting there bored and he saw and asked her what excuse she told her parents. Plus during the finale rap battle, she entered and went to go stand with Murad’s friend group. And then she was smiling and gave him something like a hand grab plus high five really comfortably. They both didn’t seem like they had any weird feelings or grudge and it didn’t look like she threatened him days before. Plus, their dynamic was nice to watch, in my opinion. He got flustered after she said “you think I’m hot?”👀. And I can see why u would argue that they’re more like friends or maybe even best friends but I would have preferred their marriage (friends to lovers is great) over Murad and her as a couple.

Ok ik I’ve lowkey been grilling Murad a bit too much. Everything I’ve said obviously doesn’t justify Safeena’s actions. But I think they’re equally toxic. She’s more physically toxic while he’s emotionally. The worstttt part is I thought they were so cute in the first half. Their eye contact itself was so romantic. I think they were more natural together here instead of how they were as Rocky and Rani. Even so, the cheating ruined everything for me. I thought he would stop at one kiss but he took a second and then started to full on makeout with Sky. 😭😭

Side Note: If you couldn’t tell by now, I get upset when one side loves or yearns a lot and the other side barely even cares. Thats why I don’t like certain, not all, kdramas or cdramas just ones where “he fell and fell harder” because it shows their continuous efforts in a relationship and the fl is just like yea sure wtv.

But I still really liked this movie overall. This also isn’t really a negative aspect. I mean it was still interesting seeing how the relationship played out. I’m glad it wasn’t an unrealistic fairytale but I just had an insane urge to rant about this and discuss it with u guys! So, tell me what u agree with or disagree with.
