MRD - FLOWERS OF FLESH AND BLOOD
When I first fell across MRD it was love at first play. I listened addictively pretty much everything from him, and the more I listened the more I loved. Superwoman was massive but I knew that more was about to come. His Modular corona jam was promising, indeed.
And now he drops this. Flowers of Flesh and Blood lands during weird times, when pretty much everyone is experiencing a sentimental chaos, accumulating tension and emotion with nowhere to release. Amid techno bangers, come moments such as those in Save Me Another Time and whiteflowers to finally release some of this accumulated tension and emotion, through intensifying the pain, maybe, but still works. I find it exonerating. The timing of this release is just so to the point, even though it hurts somehow. It reminds us how much we missed physical contact, how much we missed sharing moments with people we know and people we don’t know, those happy simple moments and those more intimate ones, all those things that we have all of a sudden been deprived of, the same things which were once taken for granted. So we know now how precious these are - we learnt the hard way.Â
As a wise man said, techno people are romantics. Maybe that’s why we love tracks like these so much, and we listen to them again and again.
This also serves as a positive reminder that humanity will never run out of talent. We are curious by nature and we will keep on experimenting and creating. Man and machine can make magic. Good things keep happening even if we are locked, as long as we don’t settle.
Until normal life resumes, this is a good time to recharge, mentally and physically. And it’s ok to feel lost, sometimes.
