I cannot stop thinking about the equations to reverse time in Hannibal’s notebook no matter how hard I try. He was the Monster of Florence. he was the Chesapeake ripper. Maybe he could’ve been the ‘Tooth Fairy,’ but he met Will, and all of that derailed. You see the regret Hannibal feels when he’s sitting by himself in his office, in his chair, at the time of Will’s appointment. He’d already framed and sent him off. He holds Will as he guts him, like he wanted to the whole time. He takes Will’s coat when he flees the scene. He wishes for the teacup to come back together. Maybe he wishes he’d changed the second he met Will, so they could be normal-ish and happy together. When he turns himself in, it’s so Will doesn’t have to chase him anymore, like he did in Europe.

Another thing, is Hannibal’s tendency to take away things Will loves. People that Will love. He comes to Hannibal’s office, and tells him “I kissed Alana Bloom.” Not very long after, Hannibal is with Alana. Does it look like he truly loves her? No. He only has sex with her because, well, that’s what couples do. He took her away from him. He took Abigail away from him, making him assume that he killed her, making him watch her die. While imprisoned, Hannibal just learns that Will is married and has a son, and that he’s away from the house and won’t be returning soon. The first thing he does? Tell that to Francis Dolarhyde, who goes to kill them. He wanted to have Will to himself again.
