Vesna Manojlovic: Leavers, takers and commonism
Vesna, from the hackerspace in Amsterdam, is providing an interesting perspective on the history of 'modern' humans and their relationship to other humans and species. In this poetic and graphic description, she quickly touches on commonism as an ideology and poses the question: will internet and computer networks enable us to face the challenges that lie ahead of us?
The idea of leavers and takers presented here originates with author Daniel Quinn whose books Ishmael, The Story of B and Beyond Civilization are a source of inspiration for Vesna and many, including Pearl Jam whose album Yield was inspired by it.
This beautiful video, including animation, was created by Irene van Carmen. Original material recorded by Mathijs de Bruin. Music by Presidente (Av 18, Corina, Réquiem) and Ricardo Villalobos (Das leben ist so anders). Audio mastering by Erly José.
