There’s a new threat out there on the web, and this one’s going after small and medium businesses.

Web security company Armorize posted new information on its blog this week about a so-called “mass-meshing” attack on thousands of websites in the United States and Europe.

The new threat is similar to the “Lizamoon” attack in March, where hackers injected malicious code onto legitimate websites. This time however, it’s what’s called a “drive-by download” —meaning if you go to the wrong site it will automatically download the nasty stuff. Armorize estimates that 20,000 to 30,000 websites were compromised since June 7.

The attacks mean sites can be blacklisted by Google, and those behind it can take control of the computers of people visiting your site.
