NO THIS IS SO GOOD I NEED TO YAP I'm recovering from a many-years relative Fandom Hiatus at least on the active, tumblry side and I have so many thoughts.

I think I'll make these two separate posts because they are different vibes but if you (or anyone else!!!) wants to DM me to yap about basically ANYTHING Vox or Vox-adjacent (I think romantic Staticbelle is my only current meh on the Vox-side but literally anything else goes and that's just personal pref)... I should probably make an intro post around now tbh. Also I need to get back to exam lock-in as well. Vox vs. Orgo 2 fight when.

But!!! The topic at hand right now is VOXTEK: Trust Us With Your Tech Gore. (General mental health warning, Vox has things wrong with him.)

A personal fave of mine is that I think Vox entered Hell a lot more flesh-and-blood than he is now. Obviously he had the TV head going on, and we saw his little tech fingertips in the flashback with Al, but underneath I think a lot of it was still... well, not human, maybe a bit more shark-y, but at least Alive.

It is important to me that this is no longer the case.

We don't know all the details of the Vox-Al first fight but I'd imagine, considering Al was still the strongest sinner and presumably relatively new to his powers (young, reckless, eager to prove, eager to kill) Vox got hurt bad. Bad. And as a budding tech entrepreneur, with a few loyal minions on his side... the wiring began.

His decision to become more Modern was, I believe, entirely of his own volition. He needed to stay new. Relevant (unlike Alastor). Now knowing that sinners can't truly die (I'm sure through personal experience in whatever way you imagine that to be), he made the decision to change. Despite constant rewiring, nerves to wires and skin to metal to sleek biotic imitations of life, he never made his head easily detachable. Change has to hurt, sometimes.

That being said, having nerves replaced by wires does not change their base function. In fact, getting more biotech scientists on his team has made him even more sensitive, or at least feeling true imitations of pain rather than shocked, detached sensations. And having an exposed wire... well, it's sure to feel like something. I'm sure Valentino has things to say about that.

Speaking of, getting his screen smashed in?? Rude. The world's worst version of getting a broken nose and a migraine in one. I also think it significantly limits his physical senses; while he can still view through cameras and Know through his connection to the web, I think his standard facial abilities become significantly limited. It's hard to talk through your side-speakers and watch your body from a third-person perspective, especially when someone doesn't think it's important to prioritize maintenance when Vox "deserved it".

And ohhhh, his connection to the Web (should I call it the Veb? I'm going to call it the Veb now. Hell internet trademark) is SUCH a good underrated way to play with sensory overload. The man is surely neurodivergent in one way or many (he is the origin of Shark Week....) and I think especially when he's manic... he has the entire internet at his fingertips, literally, And More. Every Bluetooth (Vluetooth? I am having so much fun with this) connection, every background hum of activity (radio waves...) can be tapped into, and sometimes it's involuntary. When power surges through him so much that he feels everything, all of Hell, and if he happens to be plugged into the system when it happens you can bet your ass he'll be glitching and smoking until he triggers an emergency reboot, the recovery from I expect very similar to any other neurological condition.

There are a lot of more specific topics I could get into re: Vox mental health about this, dehumanization of himself and by others, Valentino's everything, etc. but I think those would require more specific tags and I'd need to mull them over. This is everyone's sign to hop into my inbox or DMs and yap away...
