TeaTop, 39269 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA 94560
TeaTop hails from Taiwan, like so many milk tea shops. They emphasize tea quality and claim to use top graded High Mountain Tea and other premium teas.
This location is newish and features drinks only. Drinks include fresh tea, milk tea, slushies, milk foam tea, fresh milk tea, and matcha tea. Only one size is mentioned on the menu, large. Add ins are 50 cents each and include boba, grass jelly, coconut jelly, pudding, red bean, mung bean, and sago. You can specify the sweetness and ice levels.
* Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea ($4.25, large + 50 cents for grass jelly, 30% sweetness, less ice): A large cup is quite large. The drink was still a little sweeter than my sweet spot, and I usually get 30% sweetness wherever I go. The tea flavor wasn’t as strong as I had hoped. It seemed like they used non-dairy creamer which I’m not a huge fan of – but I could have/ should have ordered the fresh milk tea instead. The pieces of grass jelly were soft and fresh, though I like bigger pieces and the grass jelly flavor wasn’t that strong.
The décor isn’t so great – that orange that they chose is very intense. But it’s bright and clean inside and they have free wi-fi. The giant boba milk tea statue is adorable. Service was friendly. Order at the counter. Stamp cards are available.
Tea Top’s drink didn’t stand out of the crowd.
