“That I can help ya with.” Frobisher perked up. “I know way too much about the media of Earth in this century. Indiana Jones was a series of action movies ‘bout this archaeologist who spent a lot more time shootin’ at people than digging up old artifacts an’ still ended up with more treasure than most archaeologists ever see.”

The whifferdil kept pace with Teatime as they approached the ride.

Frobisher rolled his eyes.

“No, the kiddies sound like Louis Armstrong, whaddya think?” he squeaked. He didn’t mind being laughed at, but he would have preferred it if he made a joke first. Teatime sure had a memorable laugh, it was surprising how every time Frobisher heard it, he reacted like it was the first time.

Frobisher suspected from the yap that he didn’t want to see what was waiting in his office. He came out anyway, discovering Teatime holding a puppy. And maybe it was just his permanent expression, but Frobisher thought that Teatime looked pleased with himself. The dog certainly did.

Frobisher looked around the room in a panic, trying to find an exit. Teatime’s words didn’t register with him immediately.

“I’m really hopin’ that means ya gotta plan...” Frobisher said nervously, “An’ not that ya ain’t bothered by the idea of burnin’ to death.”

He went completely still for a moment as a nasty thought occurred to him.

Well, that’s one way to tell them apart... Frobisher thought, padding to the edge of the cell.

“Maybe that’s true if somebody’s a cat all the time, but I ain’t.” said the little jellicle cat who was usually a penguin. He coiled up his body, wiggling his tail, and bounded up to the small gap in the cell wall.
