HungryâŠ
You liked the forest. Trees make only 28% of the oxygen ïżŒyou breathed when you were alive, but the plants and flowers gave a certain life the ocean just couldnât. The bunny nibbling on bitter lettuce was proof of just how much life these plants brought with them.
The food chain, without those plants a bunny couldnât eat, and without the bunny a fox couldnât and so on till the biggest predator dies.
Youâve liked the forest since you were human. Your friend use to call you a forest hippy, going on hikes with you once in a while. The two of you didnât have the slightest clue anything about nature. All you knew was you loved it, and she tagged along because of that reason. It just felt right. The sun in your face and the dirt in your nails.
HungryâŠ
Now the sun of your face burns hot even in cold weather and the dirt in your nails feels too odd, to new. The feeling lost to the habit and need to keep your hands clean. So you sit, with muddy white cloth gloves on, a white lacy sun dress that was covered in mud and tearsïżŒ, and torn shoes tied by their laces together on your wrist in a mock, heavy bracelet.
White, light, flow-y, breathable.
Stained, dirtied, cold, exposed.
You were cold, dirtied and your legs were exposed to the elements. The ïżŒpristine angelic color assigned to you long ruined by the brown mud and dirt. ïżŒYour dignity falling low, but never low enough to hide behind a trash can. What if a human found you? No, instead youâd die in the woods.
HungryâŠ
When was the last time youâve eaten? Three weeks⊠A person can bleed to death in just five minutes. You knew that. Vampires feed on peopleâs blood because they cannot supply their own. So while the blood running through your veins and in your cheeks arenât your own, you try and preserve it. Try not to run out of it.
A person can bleed out in just five minutes, but it took two months to die without food. For you, itâs like a small mixture of the two. Blood leaving your body, you were burning it like it was the energy food was to humans.
You sweat, panting heavily and leaning against a tree. The confusion and anxiety getting to you as you felt your more important organs finally start to shut down.
You knew you wouldnât survive without a Nest⊠but that didnât make it less painful to die.
No.
You couldnât die. Not with your life like this. Not when you gave up so much to live in the first place. So, in a finally last ditch effort to live.
You screamed.

Jimin heard the screech before any of the his mate did. His ears just worked better then thereâs, it was a curse. A curse he thanked every full moon for because thatâs how he met his mates. The scream was primal, life or death. Jiminâs head immediately flung in the direction and it was like his body moved on its own when he started running.
Namjoon ran after him, tripping over his own paws at the suddenness of the boys new behavior. He just⊠took off! It was seconds later he heard the scream as well. A second wave before the quiet. But⊠why did the quiet make his heart squeeze more then the screams did?
They both raced to the voice. It was odd, usually when you hear screaming you run away but it was like their instincts took over.
_______________
Hi! So I made this chapter as chapter 1! Then I realized I didnât want it to be chapter one (reasons). And I also couldnâ add it to the prologue! So Iâm making it chapter 0.5! Or a teased kind of thing. Itâs cannon to the storyline placed in the middle of chapter 1 and the prologueâŠ. Do with that what you will!
Itâs really short because itâs half a chapter, real chapters will be longer. dw

TaylorÂ
They say staying friends with your ex is a gamble because youâll always have intimate feelings for them. They never do go away, Heâll agree with that, but didnât think about that when him and Hayley broke up only because the curly haired man couldnât imagine life without her after sheâd been with him for so long. Meeting someone like Hayley was a privilege and heâs not saying that just because they were once together. What that tiny fire cracker brought to the relationship is what she brought to their friendship before and after they were together. Her excitement for life put a smile on his face when nothing else would, and it continues to do so.Â
People say watching your ex move on is heartbreaking, and he does agree with this too, but somehow, heâs managed. Sheâs dated for two years after him. Itâs been the same guy. Heâs avoided being alone with them, for his own sanity, but slowly the burning jealous monster inside of him began to cool soon enough. It wasnât an overnight occurrence. It took weeks and months, but that smile on her face made it all better.Â
Nothing, however, would have prepared him for Hayleyâs wedding day, marrying someone else.Â
Sheâs always said that she only wants to get married once because itâll be with the right person. Taylor thought that person would be him, but there she was, looking beautiful in her white dress, wavy hair, and excited smile. She was unable to stand still for the entirety of the ceremony.Â
He recalls it clearly. She sent him a nervous look and then furrowed her brow when she read the expression on his face. Taylor wouldnât have been able to hide his hurt. Her green eyes went soft and then her expression turned apologetic. He wanted to tell her that he was happy for her, but standing there in the front row next to her sisters and mother, the curly haired man felt anything but happy. He felt stupid in his suit and tie. Angry at himself for not fighting for her harder two years before. Felt like the love of his life was slipping away and this was his last chance.Â
Say something, a voice in his head screamed. Say it now!Â
Taylor opened his mouth. Hayley raised her eyebrows and her eyes widened. He thinks she leaned towards him. But then the music began to play and the priest stepped into the room. He tore his eyes from her before she could, unable to stomach the look she was about to give him. His mouth closed and the ceremony proceeded.Â
This was a year and a half ago. They say that fifty percent of marriages fail, and most fail in the first two years.Â
Nothing could have prepared him for Hayleyâs wedding, but nothing could have prepared him for Hayleyâs divorce either.Â
XxxxÂ
November 1Â
He's been in weird places with Hayley the weirdest hours, but this is a new one. Theyâre in the bathroom stall, the tiny blondeâs hand hovering over the toilet holding a valuable item that should not seem all that important to her now, but sheâs hesitating at the last moment. It was her idea to come here after all, the bathroom of a bar at nearly two in the morning, but neither of them is drunk and everything has come down to this. All the arguments, all the late nights, all the tears. It ends now.Â
Theyâre cramped in this stall, barely standing a few inches apart. He has a clear view of Hayleyâs face and all the emotions passing over her features. Sheâs sad, but also determined. Confused, but her mind is set.Â
Her shoulders drop. âItâs fucking engraved in his grandmotherâs handwriting. Jesus Christ.âÂ
Taylor pokes her arm, hard. âDonât go soft on me now, Williams. His grandma wonât care.âÂ
She gives him a pointed look. âAnd how do you know that?âÂ
âHer grandson ruined your life. Iâm pretty sure sheâll let this one slide, HaylesâÂ
âHe didnâtâŠâ Hayley trails off, knowing heâs right. The curly haired man nods at her and raises his eyebrows to acknowledge the ring in her hand. Itâs a fancy one, gold all around with a neat engraving inside. She reads it one last time and then takes a deep breath.Â
âOkay.â She holds the ring over the toilet. In a voice that suggests otherwise she says, âIâm ready.âÂ
He gets into position, holding his finger over the flush tab. âLetâs do this.âÂ
âLetâs count to five.âÂ
âLetâs do three.âÂ
Taylor hears her sharp intake of air. âOkay. Sorry.âÂ
âItâs okay.âÂ
âOne, twoâŠthree.âÂ
It happens quickly. She drops it and he swiftly flushes it down before she can have second thoughts and then they both stand side by side watching the ring get flushed away. Somewhere behind them, a light bulb goes out and itâs suddenly darker in the stall. When he glances at her, Taylor can barely make out her features, but the hard line of her mouth is clear.Â
Hayley turns and looks at him when the ring is gone. She suddenly steps forward and holds her arms out, wrapping them around the curly haired man and squeezing until heâs struggling to breathe. Her neck is exposed due to her blonde hair being tied out of the way, and Taylorâs nose presses into the column of her throat.Â
âThis really sucksâ She whispers in his ear. He holds her firmly to his chest, gently guiding her head to his shoulder.Â
âI knowâ Taylor says, though he really doesnât. âWe can get through this. Iâm sure of it.âÂ
He holds her until she releases him and asks to be taken home. Since neither of them is drunk, itâs no question that itâs time to head back. What they came to do has been done, a mission gone not-so-smoothly, but successful in the end nonetheless.Â
Hayley climbs into his car and sits with her head against the window.Â
As heâs driving, Taylor glances down at her naked fingers, a weird unsettling feeling in his stomach. Sheâs too silent for his liking, but the curly haired man can practically hear the relentless thoughts in her head joining in with his. For the first time that night, he regrets making Hayley flush her wedding ring. After all, it was his idea, and now that he ponders over it, worrying if he's offended her, he realizes how dangerous the ground they're treading on is. If she doesnât say something soon, crack a joke or make a passing comment about how itâs funny that they keep catching red lights, he may have to say something. The worst part is that Taylor doesnât know what he could even say to make her feel better.Â
âHeyâ she says a little while later, sitting up. Relief floods him immediately. âCan I ask you something?âÂ
âSure.âÂ
She pauses, still glancing out the window. âWhen I was getting married, standing up there, do you remember when I looked over at you?âÂ
Discomfort pricks at his neck. âOf course.âÂ
âI think about it a lot. Your face, I mean.â He sees her clearly when they stop at yet another red light and she turns her head towards him. Taylor canât read her expression well enough though, something that frightens him because he was once able to read her with a single glance and now, doesnât have the ability. He recalls bragging about it for years, but now is debating just how well he knows her. âI remember it so clearly T. You werenât crying, but there was so much pain on your face. Itâs like Iâd justâŠI donât know. Like Iâd done something horrible to you.âÂ
He doesnât reply, focused on the red light. He stares at it until his brown eyes water. When the light turns green, Taylor jerks the car into motion. Hayley has to grab onto her arm rest. Â
âYou didnât say it was meâ she continues, âbut it felt like it was me. Iâd done something, right? And I never realized it. I was so stupid for inviting you to that wedding.âÂ
He swallows, looking down at the cup holder for a bottle of water to relieve his aching throat. âYou donât think I should have been there? On your happiest day?âÂ
âIâd never seen that expression on your face before T. And I havenât since then. But it was there on my wedding day, and Iâve been thinking about it so much. If I could go back and avoid it, I would.âÂ
Hayleyâs normally fast speech is so incredibly slow now, carefully saying each word. âYou looked betrayedâ she says quietly. âHurt.âÂ
He brings the car to a stop in front of her house. âI was hurtâ Taylor admits, reaching for her trembling hand. Thereâs no cold metal to prevent his entire hand from touching her. âBut you were happy. It was either going to be you or me.âÂ
âBut Iâve been thinkingâ she insists, squeezing his hand back, âabout how Iâd feel at your wedding. And Iâve only realized now how ugly the feeling would be. Weâd been together for so long. We were always planning a wedding.âÂ
He removes his hand from her grip. âIâm not going to sit here and make you feel bad for being happy Hayles. Because you were happy for years. This divorce is making you think of things that could have been, but we canât go back and fix it, so why bother? You were happy with him. Thatâs a fact. You married him and thatâs a fact. You got divorce. Thatâs the fact weâre working on digesting. You have too much on your plate to be worrying about me.âÂ
âDo youâŠâ she begins suddenly, âdo you ever feel like weâŠâÂ
Hayleyâs green eyes widen and she stops, looking away as if she canât believe what she was about to say. Her shoulders fall again. âIâm so tired. Goodnight, T. Iâll see you soon?âÂ
Disappointment grows inside him when she doesnât continue. âYesâ he assures her softly. âIâll see you.âÂ
The tiny blonde disappears inside of her house. Taylor drives away with an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach. Itâs returned more than once since Hayley announced her divorce, and he still doesnât know how to identify it though itâs been weeks. When the curly haired man gets home, the feeling has settled deep within him and doesnât show any signs of leaving.Â
