Tears of the Trufflepig by Fernando A. Flores . ‘Tears of the Trufflepig’ follows Esteban Bellacosa as he balances the border of South Texas and Mexico, muddying his Ostrich-knee Wingham dress shoes in the process. It’s the story of extinct animals brought back to life to be eaten by the rich and powerful, cultures returning only to be killed and sold as twisted artefacts, and a whole lot of Herzegovina Flor cigarette smoke. Flores is a writer like few others, blending myth and fiction into an beautiful, earthy concoction, and through his work I have discovered the combined joy/heart ache of Border Fiction, realised that more novels need accompanying playlists and now have a desire to find out what fried Dodo gizzards truly taste like which I’m sure will linger longer than is really healthy. Personally, I’m imagining it’s like a really rich quail. 4.5 out of 5 shrunken heads. . #tearsofthetrufflepig #fernandoaflores #trufflepig #minimonotonebookclub #booksivereadin2020 #booksivedrawnin2020 #booksreillustrated #illustration #bookstagram #houlart #houl (at Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-sYxjBBwwp/?igshid=12i8k1uwo5iqd
