This A340 is part of the white fleet operated by the 2nd Air Transport Squadron (2. Lufttransportstaffel) of the Executive Transport Wing of the Federal Ministry of Defence (Flugbereitschaft des Bundesministeriums der Verteidigung) which is primarily located at Cologne Bonn Airport. Guten tag and bon voyage @bundeswehr A350 (10+03) ‘Kurt Schumacher’! 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 After a brief stopover in Singapore on governmental transport duty, this German Air Force A350 makes its return journey back to its home base in Cologne, Germany, in time for Christmas. 🎄❄️✨🙏👍 (I miss Germany’s Christmas markets. 😕) The German Air Force is the first non-commercial operator of the Airbus A350 with 10+03 (MSN: 416) being the first of three A350s procured to enter active service. They are meant to replace the existing fleet of aging A340s that are prone to technical issues. A350 10+03 is named ‘Kurt Schumacher’ after the first Leader of the Opposition in the German Federal Republic (post-WW2 Germany). The A350 has incredibly long range and fuel efficiency as ‘Kurt Schumacher’ (10+03) demonstrated last November in a non-stop flight from Cologne to Canberra (8,930 nautical miles) which lasted 19 hours and 13 mins.
