Whispers of Guilt | Team Thread

Dante would be lying if he said he felt any sort of comfort in this situation. The gun holsters hung empty at his hips and the familiar weight of Rebellion on his back was absent. And maybe he was just losing his mind a little bit, but he felt as though he had... weakened significantly. He didn’t dare attempt to call on his demonic power, deciding the situation wasn’t quite that dire.
He was, however, travelling with two people, one of them carrying a giant fish, and the other a staple gun. Dante himself had found his weaponry replaced with what seemed to be a toy fishing rod with a fish at the end of a pitiful string. An unfortunate turn of events, but he’d make it work.
As the team progressed throughout the labyrinth, they came to a door. Unfortunately, once they got closer to the door, a large statue crashed down from the ceiling and landed rather inconveniently in front of their path. It was a perturbing statue, to be sure: a man kneeling on the ground, crouched forward with his hands on his elbows, covering his ears. He looked almost painful.
“Only a pure of heart and mind may pass,” came a whisper, seemingly from the statue. “Confess what darkens your heart, what haunts your dreams, and what regret falters your step.”
Dante furrowed his brows in confusion for a moment before scoffing.
“Well, that’s new. Haven’t fought whispering statues before. Statues, yes, whispering, no.” Dante spun to face his two teammates.
“So! Any volunteers to go first?” Dante asked, twirling the fishing pole’s string. “I don’t think I can convince it to move with this little thing.”
