Residents of Solstice part six
Saturday is the new leader of Team Waltz. His teammate, the former leader, disappeared after saving Saturday from being caught in the collapse of the unstable dungeon known as the Comet Ruins, which is located just off the eastern shore of Mare. Ever since that incident, Saturday has teamed up with Tabitha of Team Silk in order to complete job requests, as a team’s membership with INHQ will be revoked if one ventures into a dungeon alone.
Saturday and his partner were both pretty quiet, so there was often a comfortable silence between them. While Saturday was more polite, his partner could be a bit more gruff.
Outside of work, Saturday often visits his father, Bridger, who he is quite close with. He also enjoys socializing with Team Vanguard over drinks at the Shuckle House.
While Saturday does not live at the INHQ headquarters, as he is not in training, he can often be seen around there, scouring the job request boards for any mention of missing fire types, hoping his partner might be among them.
Saturday first dreamed of forming a team during his childhood, when he met Team Waltz’s future leader chattering excitedly about getting to meet a famous Investigation Team. Intrigued, Saturday talked more with this Pokémon, and the two became fast friends. Years past, and the duo formed Team Waltz in their early adult years. They quickly rose through the ranks, and became very well known in Solstice.
One day, Team Waltz’s leader suggested that they venture out to the Comet Ruins, a challenging dungeon that was said to be inhabited by the legendary Pokémon Jirachi. During their adventure, the leader stopped in his tracks, and confessed something very personal to Saturday. He told the Omastar that he had harbored romantic feelings for him for quite a while, and he asked Saturday if he wanted to go on a date with him, only if he wanted to, of course. Saturday quickly responded with a resounding yes, also confessing that he had harbored feelings for his partner since they were young, but he had never found the right time to tell him.
However, just as the two were reaching the bottom of the dungeon, the walls began to break down, evaporating like dust that gave way to an inky abyss. Saturday’s partner pushed him out of harm’s way, telling him to run, and Saturday did just that. He tried to convince his partner that he could make it, but it was too late. His partner had fallen away into the abyss.
Tabitha is the leader of Team Silk, a rookie team at INHQ. She’s always been quite reserved, but something has been different lately. Ever since her teammate, a Seel named Dawdle vanished in the middle of the night, she has cut herself off from others almost completely. At dinner time, she always has her meals in her room, which is a stark contrast to her previous habit of chatting with her fellow INHQ members during meals. Nowadays, she only really talks to Saturday, and even then, it’s always about the job request they have to do that day. Any attempts that her fellow trainees make to reach out to her is always rebuffed with a quick nod and a few words of reassurance of her wellbeing. The only Pokémon she makes any attempt to connect with these days is her childhood friend, a Luxio named Orion.
Although she has withdrawn herself from others, Chirp is sometimes able to convince her to go out with them and Riddermark for noodles. While it’s only a small step in the right direction, Tabitha is opening up to other Pokémon again, little by little, although the sting of Dawdle’s sudden departure still haunts her.
