Yang: I think my dad was the least surprised a parent could possibly be.

Nora: Yeah, your dad was weirdly chill about you having so many partners.

Yang: I think it just runs in the family.

Jaune: When I told my parents, my mom just kind of sighed because she realized she had four more birthdays to account for with gifts. My dad was pretty proud, though.

Yang: “My boy, mah boy, that’s mah boy,” so much “my boy,” it was cute! *laughs*

Pyrrha: My mom was really surprised when I told her.

Ren: Is it that surprising that you attracted us~?

Pyrrha, blushing: No, she just…said that she was glad I was branching out because I was so shy and introverted in high school.

Yang: Aww but you’re cute when you’re shy!

Pyrrha: *more blushing*

Yang: Yeah yeah like that!

Pyrrha: Okay but that’s nothing, I really was just a huge nerd in school.

Jaune: You’re a three-sport varsity athlete. You call that being a nerd?

Pyrrha: Those were pre-contacts days for me. You didn’t see the goggles I had to wear during volleyball. I looked like an alien.

Nora: A cute alien, probably.

Yang: Yeah, you should bring the alien goggles back!

Pyrrha: How dare you conjure my dark past…

Jaune: It’s true that you don’t wear glasses enough. They suit you.

Pyrrha: But I’ll look like a nerd though…

Jaune: Exactly!

Yang: I’ll wear glasses if you do.

Pyrrha: But you don’t need glasses.

Yang: I can get them just for looks. I can totally rock the busty nerdy girl look. Just need to put my hair up more and get me a tiiight sweater vest.

Nora: Loving these ideas…

Pyrrha: *sigh* I might consider it… But don’t tease me!

Jaune: Who teased you in high school?

Pyrrha: Everyone! They’d make up nicknames like “nerdy girl” and constantly look at me and smile at me ask me for piggy back rides because I’m so tall.

Yang: They were flirting, honey.

New AU Story on AO3!

Summary: “Weiss is a cheerleader, Blake is an artist and musician, and Ilia is a track star. Sure, it might seem like they're worlds apart, but one chance meetup at a campus LGBTQ student org meeting leads to something more growing between them. Perhaps they can find what they've been longing for in each other?

“College AU, Remnant Adjacent (no magic or semblances, but there are still Faunus and the kingdoms). Also featuring the misadventures of Team NAVYL (Polyamorous JNPR + Yang)!”

Thanks to all the help from my friends on discord, I was able to develop this new AU! I hope to have a ton of fun with it, since I can really do anything with it and the characters! Here’s a little look at each major character:

Blake Belladonna

Blake is a quirky and often quiet person, tending to stay within her own creative mind rather than branching out socially. She’s primarily an artist, but is also a musician and writer. She’s awkward to talk to at first, but is generally a nice person, though if you catch her at a bad time, she’ll try to just avoid interaction altogether.

Since coming to Beacon, her extroverted roommate Neon has decided to make Blake her adopted introvert, she has joined theatre (as a designer), and she has started attending LGBTQ org meetings regularly. Maybe making friends won’t be as hard as she thought?

Weiss Schnee

Throughout childhood, Weiss was told that she was destined to be special. And so, she did everything she could to make sure she would be. Of course, she suffered from “gifted kid syndrome” and eventually crashed and burned as a 1st year in college. Now a 2nd year, she’s on the up and up once again, with a bit more humility on hand. Additionally, now that she’s no longer obsessing over the way others see her (at least, not as much as she used to), she can take the opportunity to do some self reflecting. And she soon realizes she has a lot to figure out, thanks to a charming and attractive fellow member of the cheer team...

Weiss has a tiny problem: She’s a 2nd year in college and still hasn’t made sense of why everyone is so fucking attractive? Good thing she has fellow cheerleader and aroace wisewoman May Marigold to help her figure things out, to an extent. Weiss is a mess, so it’s taking a while. She’ll get there.

Ilia Amitola

A motivated person in almost every area of her life, Ilia dedicates a lot of time and effort to her athletics. She has big aspirations and holds herself to them, which means she often has to deal with self doubt and feelings of inadequacy whenever she comes up short. She’s a fun person to be around, and allows herself some time to relax and be social, but that personal time is often limited or bypassed altogether. She needs to get to bed early so she can get up for her early morning miles, after all.

Ilia’s actually doing pretty well in college. Well, classes could be going better, but she’s an excellent athlete and she’s loving the college life. But then she hears that Blake is at Beacon, and this rocks her world. Ilia had thought Blake was a part of her past, but here she was, looking as stunning as ever...

Team NAVYL (Nikos, Arc, Valkyrie, Yang, Lie)

They are polycule goals. But that doesn’t mean things don’t get a little out of hand at times. Yang and Pyrrha are the stars of the Beacon football team, and basketball team, and volleyball, and wrestling...Nora, Jaune and Ren are very very lucky, that’s what I’m saying. Meanwhile, Nora plays baseball and is in the robotics club with Yang, and Ren and Jaune work in a record store together, and are also cheerleaders. Jaune and Nora are trans and Ren is nonbinary, and they’re all in one big bi/pan pile of love and chaos.

And yes, they all share one giant bed.

(I’m really looking forward to writing more Team NAVYL stuff. Like, I’m beyond psyched about it. My pan heart is palpitating at the possibilities...)

Yang: Yeah, but at least chores are easy.

Ruby: Ohhh you’d only have to do a couple things yourself, huh?

Yang: Oh no, we all do everything, together.

Ruby: Does that make it more efficient?

Yang: Uh…

The previous day…

Ren: Okay, what are our tasks?

Pyrrha, reading off a list: Dishes, new sheets on the bed, take out the trash, and put the clothes in the washing machines.

Ren: And our previous record for this particular set of tasks?

Pyrrha, flipping through pages: Six minutes, fifteen seconds.

Yang: Oh, we so got this.

Nora, doing some stretches: Hell yeah, let’s gooo!

Jaune: Don’t go too crazy, guys.

Nora: I’m already crazy!

Ren, holding a stopwatch: Ready?

Yang: Yeah!

Ren: GO!

Team NAVYL: *all sprint to the kitchen, beginning to handwash dishes in a very fast, very rehearsed manner, then one-by-one all sprint to the bedroom to put the sheets on their bed (five people making one bed only takes about ten seconds), then each runs to grab trash bins from each room in the apartment, sending Ren and Pyrrha to sprint them down the stairs while Jaune, Yang and Nora all grab a hamper and sprint down to the laundry room*

Pyrrha, re-entering the apartment with Ren, breathing heavy: What’s the time?

Ren, checking the watch: Five fifty-five.

Pyrrha, yelling down the hall: Come on!!!

Jaune, leading the way out of the laundry room as the far end of the hall: GO GO GOGOGOGOGOGOGO GOOOOOOOO!

Ren: Ten, eleven, twelve…

Jaune, running into the apartment: Nora, Yang-!

Nora: AAAAAAAA!

Yang: AAAAAAAA!

Both: *dive into the apartment like it’s a finish line*

Ren, stopping the stopwatch: Six sixteen. One second off.

Yang, on her knees: GAAAAHHHH!!!

Nora: All of our training, squandered!

Jaune: That’s it, we’re washed up, we should retire from competitive housework!

Pyrrha: Guys, it’s just chores.

Yang: But our record! Our chance at history!

Ren, under their breath: I regret trying to make chores more fun…

To present…

Yang, staring off into space: Not efficient enough, Ruby…not efficient enough…

Ruby, awkwardly patting Yang’s shoulder: Hey, I get it, I don’t like chores either.

Yang: I really need to work on my 43 meter dash.

Ruby: Huh? Specifically 43 meters?

Yang: it’s the distance from our apartment to the laundry room. If I could just shave a couple tenths of a second down then maybe *murmur murmur murmur…*

Nora: Yes!!

Ren: Now hold on-

Nora: I want a kitty!

Ren: Nora-

Nora: I want a kitty!

Yang: Yeah! Kitty!

Nora & Yang, chanting: Kit-ty! Kit-ty! Kit-ty!

Jaune: But there's already five people in this apartment, you think there's room for a cat?

Yang: Have you seen cats? They can fit into very small spaces.

Pyrrha: But I'm allergic to cats...

Nora & Yang:

Nora & Yang: Pup-py! Pup-py! Pup-py!

Pyrrha, joining: Pup-py! Pup-py! Pup-py!

Jaune: We've been outvoted, Ren.

Pyrrha: *gasps and dives under the bed.*

Yang: …Uh. You good?

Pyrrha: I’m not here.

Yang, scoffing: Alright, dork, come back up here.

Pyrrha, sighing: Fine… *crawls out from under the bed*

Yang: Woah, why are you wearing, like, three sports bras?

Pyrrha, shrugging and fidgeting with her fingers: I was…trying to fit into one of Ren’s button-ups. Just…to see what it would look like.

Yang: Oh, so you’re trying to bind?

Pyrrha, blushing: Yeah.

Yang, a smile slowly getting bigger on her face: Gender?

Pyrrha, giggling: Alright, alright, I’m…having gender thoughts.

Yang: Fucking finally! *comes over and wraps an arm around Pyrrha’s shoulder* I knew you couldn’t go forever without committing some form of gender fuckery. I mean, you live with us. How did our transgender spores not infect you sooner?

Pyrrha: I don’t know, I just…got to thinking about…stuff.

Yang: Ah, stuff. Good times. *looks down at Pyrrha’s chest* You should probably take those off.

Pyrrha: Right. About that…

Yang: Are you trapped?

Pyrrha: It’s pretty tight.

Yang: Alright, on your knees.

Pyrrha: 😳

Yang: Not like that, now down!

Pyrrha: Right, right… *kneels and raises her arms over her head*

Yang: So… *grabs the outermost of Pyrrha’s three sports bras and tugs upward* What gender stuff are you thinking about?

Pyrrha: Like…I don’t know, some days I…ouch.

Yang: Sorry, it is tight.

Pyrrha: You’re good. Uhm, some days I feel super feminine, where I want to wear dresses and skirts and wear a bunch of makeup, you know?

Yang, yanking the first sports bra off of her: Gah-! Okay, go on?

Pyrrha: But I feel like other times, like now, I feel like…I don’t know, I want to be more boyish.

Yang: Sounds pretty genderfluid to me.

Pyrrha: You think so?

Yang, pulling the second sports bra off easier: I mean, that’s just my thinking. I barely have a gender of my own, so I don’t know how fluid-ing one’s gender feels like.

Pyrrha, nodding as she tugs the last sports bra off herself and stands: Yeah… *takes a deep breath and sighs* I think I should get an actual binder.

Yang: We can get Jaune on that, he probably has the know-how. *wraps her arms around Pyrrha’s waist* You okay, though? Not having too bad of a crisis of identity, are you?

Pyrrha, shaking her head: It’s not bad, no. Just…incomprehensible.

Yang: I feel that. *kisses her lightly* Tell you what, I’ll let you decide when to tell the rest of the polycule about this, but in the meantime, how about you and I go for a workout and maybe that’ll give you some time to think about it?

Pyrrha, smiling and nodding: That sounds nice. Thank you, Yang.

Yang: No sweat. *looks down at the pile of discarded sports bras* Uh, you know you didn’t have to take that last one off, right?

Pyrrha, shrugging: Nah, I just wanted to.

Yang, blushing: Oh, alright, cool.

Pyrrha: Should I put it back on?

Yang: We’re wondering the same thing...

Ren: It’s only a matter of time...

Jaune: She can’t hang around us for this long without at least questioning a little bit...

Nora: Her being trans is the only way she can possibly get any hotter, after all...

Yang: Oh gods the FUCKING hot water heater! *takes a deep breath* Sorry, I just...I despise our hot water heater so much...

Ren, rubbing her back: We have to be...very strategic about showers.

Pyrrha: And of course it gets cramped at times, there’s five of us in a one bedroom apartment. I certainly don’t mind it being cramped, though. It’s comforting, in a way.

Jaune: As for laundry... *stares off into the distance* Oh gods, the laundry...

Nora: Yeah, I can’t even tell which clothes are mine anymore.

Pyrrha: Nora, you are several inches shorter than all of us, your clothes are the easiest to pick out from the pile.

Nora: I dunno, I can’t tell the difference between my baggy t-shirts and you guys’ normal fitting t-shirts.

Ren: All of those t-shirts are ours. The ones you claim as yours are stolen.

Nora: And? What about you guys? *points at Ren* That’s Jaune’s hoodie. *points at Pyrrha* That’s Ren’s t-shirt. *points at Yang* That is also Jaune’s hoodie. *points at Jaune* And...are those my shorts???

Jaune, blushing, wearing a pair of sport shorts a size too small for him: They make my butt look good...

Yang: That’s true, they do make his butt look good.

Nora: See? Stealing clothes from one another is mutually beneficial.

Pyrrha: Then...you should put some on?

Nora owns an extensive collection of novelty booty shorts with cursed phrases across the ass. Among her favorites are a baby blue pair that reads “gods fear those whom they cannot control” and a hot pink pair that reads “gaze upon this wretched thing.”
