It seemed like only the other day that the human who called herself “Venia” showed up in this world. Lost, scared, couldn’t remember anything about where she came from or why she was here. She didn’t remember having parents or anyone in general until Celebi and Grovyle (at that time a treecko) showed up and decided to help her out.

Now it was months later, and Grovyle had a special bond with the human. They’ve been together all this time; surviving, running, planning, and everything in between. He wondered in secret if Venia was actually sent to them by some other powerful being. While him and Celebi had wanted to do something to change the future, they didn’t have a solid plan or even a way of doing anything until the human showed up. With her special ability, they had something to hold onto, their bit of hope blossomed dramatically.

With their plan almost complete and ready to go into motion, the two had a fight one night, sitting by their campfire.

“It’s too dangerous, and you heard Celebi. She doesn’t believe the past has any humans, you would stand out.”

Venia glared at him and her fists tightened. “But I deserve to go too! I’ve worked hard too to get to this point, and I’m not just going to sit back and let you go at it alone! It’s also dangerous for you to go by yourself.”

Grovyle sighed. “Some of that is true, but it’s still too dangerous for you.”

The human continued to glare at him in silence for a few moments. Then her expression softened and she looked ready to cry.

Grovyle took a step towards her. “Venia, wait-”

“What if you go alone and you accomplish the mission, Grovyle? Then you’ll be there, in the past, on top of the tower...alone. And I’ll be here.”

The pokemon paused and looked away.

“I want to finish this mission, together. I want us to be on top of that tower, together. If we’re going to do this thing...I want to be there with you.” Venia sniffled and a couple tears went down her face.

Grovyle sighed, stepping over and sitting down next to her. “You’re right. I guess I wasn’t thinking about that. But you must promise me to be careful, alright? Anything could happen once we get there, but the mission comes first.”

“The mission comes first,” Venia repeated, nodding. She rubbed a hand over her face to partly clean herself up and then she grinned at him. “No matter what, we will do this.”
