Anya for character bingo!
Okay, so the whole Forger family (including Bond) are my blorbos, along with Henry Henderson and Sylvia Sherwood and Becky Blackbell and Franky Franklin (I'm noticing an alliterative trend from this mangaka), but of all my Spy x Family blorbos, I think Anya is the most blorbo. She's the glue that holds the whole series together, she is the whole enchilada, she is the swole chihuahua. She steals every single scene she's in, she's written so realistically for a four-year-old (or five-year-old) despite her telepathy, she's hilarious and compassionate and sometimes selfish and heartwarming and just. I love her. I LOVE ANYA SO MUCH. And tbh people who watch this show and don't love Anya don't have rights 😤
For the contradictory deeper than they seem / not as deep as they seem — obviously Anya has more under the surface than the other characters know, given her telepathy and her past. And she's suffered a lot of trauma already, not just from the human experimentation and her abandonment trauma, but also in the very first chapter / episode she got kidnapped and saw someone murdered right in front of her. :( But at the same time, day-to-day Anya doesn't dwell on her past or anything like that. She does think about Loid's mission, but she thinks just as much about peanuts or Spy Wars or playing with Bond and Becky. Oh, and penguins. She loves penguins. No doubt she could benefit from some actual childhood psychological therapy (tbh the whole family could use therapy), but while there is a lot to Anya's character and I feel the scientists who experimented on her are going to come after her again someday (woe betide them when they do, Yor will brutally murder every one of them and Loid will dispose of the evidence that they ever existed), if someone read her mind at a random point on a given day they'd probably find her wondering if Bondman likes peanuts. (She would decide that yes of course he does, because Bondman would never have bad taste.)
And the dynamic she's best with is the Forger family dynamic, of course. Their family chemistry is A++++++
OH, and I do love her design, but her hair accessories vex me. Are they accessories? Can she even remove them? She’s never seen without them, ever! What are they?! I need answers!!
I think you're the jinx authority
I wish! Maybe someday. I need to rewatch the show a few more times at least before I feel I can claim that, though. But thank you for saying so, that's very sweet!
Purple!
MY FAVORITE COLOR!!!
what’s your astrological sign?
Taurus! And I used to be kind of salty about it because I associated earth sign = grass-types and I don't respect grass-type pokémon, plus those zodiac posts on the internet were like "Taurus is about eating and plants and nothing else" and that didn't feel like me, BUUUT not only have I come to realize that being an earth elemental would be really cool (earthquakes, avalanches, flinging rocks at people!!), but also I looked more into the traits ACTUALLY associated with Taurus rather than just meme posts and realized that, even though the zodiac is all nonsense and means nothing, it actually does fit me in various ways. It's not being a useless grass-type, it's about being the mountain which doesn't bend no matter how loudly the wind howls at it to. (a.k.a. the stereotype that Tauruses are stubborn af fits me to a T lmao I don't just dig my heels in, I go knee-deep.) Plus, I mean, Jenna Marbles was inspirational in being proud of your zodiac. I wanted to get in on the fun.
So yeah, I'm a Taurus! And year of the horse for the Chinese zodiac. Just hooves all around.
what’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Hmm, I think it's a tie between "say thank you instead of sorry" and "don't advertise your mistakes," the latter of which is pretty recent. The first one helps because I do have a tendency toward over-apologizing, which can not only make things awkward for the person receiving the apology, but also I have in the past apologized for things that weren't even my fault, which is nonsense. The latter helps because my desire to hold myself accountable means I'm sometimes bringing mistakes that no one would have noticed to the attention of others, which just doesn't need to be done and is doing nothing to help me, only to hurt me. Of course I'll always own up if I've done something wrong that affects others, but I'm not going to advertise every tiny mistake I've made, because that helps nothing and no one. (This also goes triple for my creative works. Why would anyone want to read something I've written if I say it's bad? Why do I feel the need to downplay my work and my accomplishments? I'm allowed to be proud of myself and what I accomplish, I don't have to tear it apart, and I shouldn't! It's a hard lesson to learn, but an important one.)
when’s the last time you followed your instincts?
Every day, honestly . . . I can't think of a specific time because I am very, very much ruled by my feelings. Don't get me wrong, I do think things through (I overthink a lot of the time, actually), I do my research, I listen to science and facts, etc. But when backed into a corner I always go with my heart over my head. My instincts rarely steer me wrong. The only thing I have to watch out for is my anxiety tampering with my instincts, but honestly, I really do usually trust my gut.
what’s your favorite food?
Okonomiyaki!!! sobs I miss it so much, I haven't been able to eat it since my trip to Japan in 2018. :( That said I also have a huge weakness for ice cream, especially in milkshake form. It's a problem.
what’s your secret dream?
If I told you then it wouldn't be a secret. :P The closest thing would be that I'm a hopeless romantic . . . I want to woo someone . . . I want to sweep her off her feet and take her on super romantic dates . . . I want to have a real romance and true love. I consider this a dream because tbh I feel like it's impossible for me to find anyone for multiple reasons, not the least of which being that I don't think there's a single woman on this Earth who has ever been interested in me. Like really, I've never had a romantic relationship that lasted for more than a week, and the two that I did have were with men because I wasn't aware at the time that I was a lesbian. (It took me a while to reach that level of awareness, like . . . an embarrassing amount of time, I was so oblivious to myself.) I think it's something that's out of my reach and I'll just be single forever. Which is fine! I'm OK being single. I'm really independent, honestly. But it'd just be nice to have a wife to be my life partner. I've got so many romantic date ideas and it'd be nice to be able to put them to use, but I can barely make it to the coffee stage, and never past there. I'm like the dude from Tangled in the "I Have a Dream" sequence where he wishes for romance lmao. It's just not meant to be, but I dream anyway.
Thanks for asking!!!
8 and 9 for the pokemon meme
8.) least favorite gym leader
Gordie. Something about the way he whispers in your ear as you go through the Gym Challenge really creeps me out. It gives me, "male YouTuber who creeps on his fans in DMs" vibes. I did discover later that Melony does the same whispering thing through her version of the Gym Challenge, so I guess the creepiness is passed down mother to son — but Gordie still creeps me out more for whatever reason, even if meeting Melony when I played Shield lowered my opinion of her, too.
9.) favorite elite four member
To the surprise of no one, it's Karen. I love her not only because of her philosophy (which is right and true), but also because of her personality and sass in general. Karen is great, much love for Karen.
