Hey! So I kiiiinda maybe already answered the grief one in a previous ask. But! I can give you a glimpse of grief they had in their lives! Yay grief! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

So when Edgar Wolf was gunned down, the boys were pretty wrecked. The gang leader was the closest thing they had to a father figure and they never thought this would be the last time they saw him. During the bank robbery, something or someone botched up the escape and the authorities were chasing onto them too close for comfort. Edgar ordered the gang to split into three groups to scatter and confuse the law. Now usually the boys who more or less became Ed’s right hand, would have gone with his group, But Ed refused and told them to get the others to safety, taking only three other gang members with him. Now they weren’t there when it happened, no one else aside from the law. But by that evening when Ed and the others had yet to show up, they got someone to sneak into town and listen in. Ed and the others were dead, just corpses floating down the river. The Teale brothers were quite clearly shaken by this and were one of the few in denial about it. No, it couldn’t be true now could it? It’s probably one of old Ed’s fantastical escape plans once again! So the brothers went out the next morning down to where the shootout had happened, mindful of any law lingering in the area. Nothing but old blood adsorbed into the dirt. No clues or hidden messages like before. Nothing. The boys didn’t get back to the gang right away after that, they needed to just… face reality for a moment, staring at the rushing currents of the river. If any of them shed a quiet tear, the other two didn’t mention it. They lost another parent, more or less. It was hard. By the time they came back to the gang’s camp, the place looked near well ransacked and abandoned. They were able to get an explanation from a dying gang member slumped against their tent. That the gang started to turn on each other after the realization of Edgar being dead set in. Everyone wanted to split up the remaining money. A fight broke out, someone shot. Then a whole shootout happened. Just like that, over money, their family of outlaws turned on each other without Ed’s guidance. They at least got a name out of the dying friend of who shot first and used their grief as a weapon to hunt down the idiot who started the massacre in camp. A few days later, they found him, alone and almost dying already with a festering gunshot wound, but with the majority of the camp funds. At this point all that anger and grief they were using to track the bastard just about been all used up and now they just felt… tired..Tired, empty, and unsure what to do next. So they killed the man quickly and just took the funds for themselves. YAY GRIEF :) As for voices! 

I’ve yet to really match the boys up with a voice or actor I’ve heard before. But to describe their voices…Leo and Theo’s voice may have sounded similar when they were kids, but changed greatly over time mirroring their behaviors. So while the same general deepness is there, Leo is more soft and almost gentle, reflecting his calmer demeanor and lack of constant conversation. Theo’s is a bit louder, stronger, more inflection and tones thrown into his voice when speaking.

interiors: describe your OC(s) bedroom/home/or a place they consider “theirs”. what’s in it? do certain items have a special significance to your OC?

Well when the boys all lived back with their father, they stayed in one room together. it was pretty well lived in, it being their only safe haven away from their dad. They didn’t have many personal belongings there that didn’t bring with them when they ran. Leo had a nice pen set that got left behind that he really adored. Nick misses the fine and soft beds they had, boy loves to sleep and just bundle himself into blankets. Theo had lots of medical notes he took over the years he kept in a writing desk and he’s so mad to this day that he forgot to take them. As for their outlaw life, they live out of their wagon now, i’ve actually been meaning to draw it out too! Here I made a really quick rough draft of their wagon setup :p 

You can see a little bit of their personalities scattered around the area. Leo’s chest of books and journals under the wagon. Nick with his pelts hung up on on side, and his hunting rifle and pistol hung up on the side. Theo’s violin and knives set up on his ‘desk’ lol they took some old covered wagon they stole and over the years built it up to something they are all happy with. Its old and beat up but they make it work :)

6: how they deal with grief

Well in the moment, they are all very uncharacteristically emotional. Denial, shouting, maybe even some tears. They really don’t do well with very fresh grief.

But when you give that grief time to settle…

Detached. Like watching it all happen through a window or to a stranger. They don’t deal with it, at least not outwardly around others. They don’t want their help nor their pity. However between themselves as brothers, they support each other, they always have. Nick has burdened a lot of that support to help his brothers through everything. He talks it out with them and sometimes that helps himself. But more often than not, he just finds a place alone for a few hours to grieve on his own.

13: their embarrassing memory from years ago

When they were very young, around 7 years old, a bat flew into an open window of the manor during the twilight hours of the day. And of course it’s the boy’s room. Of course as young boys, seeing some dark blurr running around the room and knocking shit off the shelves and desks has them freaked out. So they’re all standing on a bed together, Theo with a pillow around wildly, Leo with a book ready to hit the bat if it gets too close. And Nick brandishing a lit candle. All the commotion of course alerts their mother who walks in all alarmed and sees them all huddle up with a tiny bat bonking itself repeatedly in a corner. She just starts laughing hysterically and goes to get her boys and calm them down, explaining how its just a little bat and how its more afraid of them than they are of it. It’s an old story that’s been drunkenly brought up on occasion by Theo who still finds humor in the old memory.

19: their reaction to betrayal

Hhhh this makes me so sad D:

For poor poor Leo, hurt. It’s so much personal hurt and pain. He trusted them, liked them. His calm world feels on fire and he can’t bring himself to step out of the flames. Why? Why would they do such a cruel thing? He doesn’t really get close to people, at least not enough to fully depend on and trust completely. So real betrayal would wreck him for a good while.

Theo it would be shock, and then bitterness. A bit upset at himself for not being able to read their true motives. I mean, he prides himself on being able to tell when someone or something is wrong or shady. So he’d be upset, and blame himself for not seeing it coming. He’d also sort of emotionally close off his hurt of the situation, trying to show the betrayer that he didn’t really care as much as he does. It doesn’t really work out for him.

Nick it would be a  wide range of emotions. Shock, denial, anguish, and then so so much anger. He was a fool. He never should have trusted them, he let his guard down. Stupid, he was so stupid and paying for it now. Never trust anybody but your family, he should have known this by now. He’s so closed off and suspicious of most people’s intentions already, so it takes a lot to gain his trust, much like Leo. And then to have it and break it? He also has this growing insecurity that outside of his brother’s he’s not worthy of having real friends and family as it seems they only ever end up dead or betraying them. So a blow like this definitely wouldn’t help.

21: how they react to pain

Im assuming this means physical pain. :p

Leo cries out more in shock than pain, and after that, he’s tenses up and gritting his teeth, trying not to cry out again. Sometimes he bites his lip hard enough to stop himself from yelling that it starts to bleed. He just doesn’t like showing how badly something hurts. It takes a lot for him to get to that extent tho. He’s got a surprisingly crazy pain tolerance. Like a broken finger? Cringing but silent, But like a gunshot? Yeah he’s desperately trying not to show how badly that fucking hurt.

Theo of course is very loud when hurt, rambles loudly and clutching whatever hurts. Takes lots of deep breaths to calm down and slowly assess the pain after, kinda going into his doctor mode to figure out the damage and if he’ll live lol. Once the adrenaline is kicking in, he can focus and try and treat himself but he’s still whining and moaning about it. Or if he needs someone else to treat his wound, he’s ordering about that person how to do it and yell when they touch the injury a bit too hard or something.

YAY STORY TIME!LORE TIME

It was a pretty lazy afternoon for the majority of the Wolf Pack as Edgar loved to so fondly call his gang. Nick had gone off on a hunt with the gang leader, something the two really bonded over. Theo was at a table playing poker with a few of the boys, and losing spectacularly, the twin was never one for hiding his reactions. And Leo himself was just tucked away under a tent near the glowing ember campfire, just reading one of the newer books he bought in the last town. 

They had picked up a new face in that town as well. Daniel. And Daniel was a mean sunovabitch, some ex stable hand, running from the law after some burglary turned murder. Leo knew all the gang came from all walks of life but Daniel… Daniel was a bit off. Took pride in the worst parts of himself and enjoyed looking down on others. It personally wouldn’t have been Leo’s first pick of a new pack member but hey, what Edgar says is law around here.

But fortunately, like all the gang before him, he was learning to hierarchy around camp. You didn’t mess with Helen, sweet older woman. She cooked for the camp and will poison your food if you do her wrong. You definitely don’t poke around Ted or Hank’s tent. They were very territorial and paranoid when it came to anyone even looking at them wrong. Ferris was a bit of a pushover but he and Ted use to run together before the pack so he was under Ted’s protection. So on and so forth with the rest. Daniel would learn the way of camp soon enough. 

But it seemed today he was going to have to test Leo’s patience. 

“Hey. You’re the dumb twin right? Lee somethin’ or other?” A form leaned against the side  of the tree, leering down at Leo. Daniel looked a bit cleaner than most, using money in heists he took part in to finally look how he felt. Clean cut, nice vest and pants, some shiny boots he stole off some poor corpse. But as nice as he cleaned up, he still wore the face of a sadistic criminal.

 Daniel huffed and stuck one of his shiny boots out nudging Leo’s side roughly. “Boy, you deaf on top of dumb?”

Leo finally closed his book and sighed. He hated wasting words on people like Daniel. That and he just hated confrontation in general. God he could already feel the anxiety of the situation getting to him. 

“…Was hopin’ you’d just leave.”

“What’s that? Speak up! You just mumblin’ nonesense or sayin’ actual words?”

Leo scowled and finally looked at the man antagonizing him. “What you want Daniel?” 

“I’ve been hearin’ from some of the boys that you and your brothers are from some rich blood out West. Was the easy life too hard for y’all?” 

Leo stiffened at the comment and shifted uncomfortably. “We ran. That place wasn’t family.”

Daniel scoffed loudly and sneered down at Leo. “You rich kids all think you have it rough, not knowin’ us regular folk have to deal with. What’s so damn horrible havin’ money huh? Daddy not give ya enough attention? …Or maybe too much?”

 Leo had enough of this idiot. He stood up. Daniel eyes widened only for a second, seeming to realize that the Teale twins were actually really damn tall. Taller than him at least. Leo stood calmly as ever, his face not really showing how angry he truly was, except for maybe a hardened glint in his eye. 

“Daniel. I think I speak for the rest of the gang when I say you need to learn when to keep your mouth shut.”

Daniel’s raised his eyebrows, seemingly amazed either that Leo’s ‘audacity’ to back talk him, or the fact that this was the first time hearing him speak so much. It was by now that the poker table had noticed the situation and paused their game. Theo was standing but had yet to approach just yet, watching on with a concerned frown. 

“You tryin’ to order me about boy?! You really is as stupid as they say. Look you be needin’ a lesson on respectin’ your betters-”

It happened in a blink. A crack of knuckles. Daniel was thrown off his feet, landing backwards a few steps from where he once stood taunting Leo. His nose was clearly broken and bleeding, and his eyes rolled up to the back of his head out cold. Leo stood there, shaking the impact out of his hand, sighing.

“Respect that. Dumbass.” 

The poker table was howling with laughter at the scene and the younger twin looked over at them, totally not pouting.  

“Who been sayin’ I’m dumb to him?” Rick, a scrawny weasel of a man, snickered and raised his hand. 

“Sorry little Leo~! Just knew if I poked him over to you, ya’d put him in his place!” he went into another fit of laughter as the other boys got up to poke at Daniel to make sure he wasn’t dead. Theo walked over by now to check on his brother. 

“Geez Leo. Musta said somethin’ to actually get ya to get a lil aggressive. You alright?” He patted his twin’s shoulder and Leo just shrugged.

“I’ll live.”

“Unfortunately, so will Daniel!” One of the boys piped up, two of them helping up the groaning man who was starting to wake up from his mini black out. Leo rolled his eyes went to go pick up his book.

 “Walk it off, Daniel. Was just a punch.”

Theo snorted at that and saw Leo already on his way back to their personal tent. He figured that would be the case, too much excitement and talking always got Leo uncomfortable and needing some alone time. He would be fine. But for now…Theo grinned and approach Daniel who was sitting on a log now cradling the side of his face. 

“Ain’tchu just lucky today Danny boy! The only doctor in the camp is yours truly! Now you get to sit here while I fix up your shitty little face and you can tell me allll about the nice lil chat you had with my brother hmm~?”

Ok three lil factoids about the boys! 

Well here’s some backstory I was kinda working on them! Edgar Wolf has kinda unintentionally become a side OC with how heavily involved he is in their past. Like I actually may make some profile moodboard thing for him later. ANYWAYS, He was a leader similar to Dutch in a sense, but a bit of an adrenaline junkie with insane heist ideas. Rob a train while still moving, hop on, and not let the conductor or anyone of authority find out till they get to the station? Sounds like an Ed idea. Release hundreds of birds inside a manor party and rob people blind in the panic? Ed Idea lol.  But despite it all, he became the weird but doting father that the boys have wanted all their life.

🖊He heavily encouraged Leonard’s mind, always trying to find new books, lectures or theories for the boy to look into and keep his mind learning constantly, He’s also the only one in the gang that could hold his own the longest against him in games of chess. He always valued his input in his crazy plans, and because of him taking Leo’s strategies seriously, these plans actually worked and with the fewest of casualties. So yes… they did pull off the bird robbery, despite the absurdity of it all, thanks to Leo. lol

🖊Ed also went out of his way to make sure Theodore could continue his studies as a doctor. He made sure they stayed a few days near town so Theo could work with the local doctors there, get more medical texts and maybe some hands on experience if the local doctor allowed it. It benefited the camp as well to have Theo be officially trained to patch up bullet wounds of course. But it was mainly because it was Theo’s passion. Edgar always was under his own belief that keeping his gang happy with what they loved kept the pack closer together and content. And he was right of course. But with it, he created a bit of a mother hen with Theo when it came to Edgar’s own health since the man eats what he wants, drinks and smokes as much as he wants. Not to mention all the scars from old shootouts and robberies. Ed just waves off all of Theo’s fretting about his health much to everyone’s else’s amusement. :p

🖊As for Nicholas, he actually helped him loosen up a lot around the others in camp and teach him to trust other people aside from his siblings. He’d go on hunting trips with Ed and they’d bond over the experience, Nick very slowly learning that he didn’t need to be so paranoid around him. And bit by bit, Nick would confide in Ed about his hopes for he and his brothers, his fears, even things about his childhood that twins didn’t even know. And really that was what Nick needed, a listening ear who wouldn’t judge, someone to share all his troubled thoughts with when he felt he couldn’t tell his brothers, he was suppose to be the eldest after all. He felt like he couldn’t burden them with all of his own anxieties and thoughts. But Ed listened and while he didn’t always have a solution or response for Nick, it always helped that he could come to him about anything and then they’d go and vent it out hunting or maybe fighting some bandits. Either way, Nick always comes back in a better mood once Ed snagged him for a chat lol

fragrance: what do your OCs smell like? 

Theo probably smells the cleanest tbh, since he’s often going to baths just to chat up the ladies and get the latest town gossip. So he probably smells like soap and whiskey. Man loves his booze lol

Leo is probably that old book smell with a combination of leather from polishing the saddles and whatnot. Very antique type scent I suppose :p Nick a very foresty smell from all his hunting travels, like the scent of fall leaves, but also with a hint of gunpowder.

poison: vices/bad habits? what are they? how do they affect your OC?

Theo does have a bit of dependency on alcohol but his brothers keep him in check, reminding him he doesn’t wanna end up like their father. But thankfully hes a rather giggly drunk than an angry one. 

Leo’s doesn’t really have much of a bad habit, but hes working on remembering to explain things. He’s a smart boy, extremely so but he sometimes gets oblivious and forgets that not everyone around him will know what hes talking about or be on the same page without saying anything. Its a bit of a miscommunication issue and the brothers have been encouraging him to talk more so its getting better :P

Nick’s a worrier, paranoid about all the what ifs, a big overthinker and looks at others with suspicion. The twins have been trying to get him to lighten up over time. It’s a process but hes working on not thinking so negatively. Also when he gets nervous he tears at his nails, so hes been trying to stop that as well. 

contact: how does your OC(s) feel about touch/physical contact? are they affectionate? if so, how do they display affection to others?

Oh man I answered a similar ask back during the beginning of my blog but it was for general physical contact. I can build from that, but heres that post first!: 

“General contact is different between others and among themselves. Nicholas and Leonard are not very touchy among acquaintances or even friends. If Nick gives you a pat on the back, or touches your arm, call that the ultimate win. Leo is just nearly the same, but takes longer for him to warm up to someone. Theo on the other hand, is a lot more friendly and has no qualms about getting in your personal bubble. He honestly doesn’t mind physical contact, unless its in a violent manner of course. 

Among themselves though, the twins will always have an arm on the others shoulder or on Nick. If they’re sitting down next to each other, the twins will just sorta lean against each other without thinking, especially if they’re tired. They’ve just been that way since they were kids. Nick on the other hand, he doesn’t really initiate physical contact, but when its his brothers, he doesn’t pull away from it either. In a sense, with all the shit they’ve been through and roughin’ it out in the west for a decade, the contact is just this soothing brotherly gesture they’ve all gotten use to. May look strange to some outsiders, grown brothers leanin’ on each other like they’re still kids, but they don’t give a shit, it’s none of their damn business anyways.”

SO yeah! updates and changes to that:Nick would let someone touch him if he really really trusted you. And he’s like, touch starved so hes sensitive to little things. Which btw, running a hand through his hair would just turn him into a puddle of goo. Completely relaxed, most relaxed hes been in years. But yeah, only a romantic interest could ever get away with that level of touching. 

Theo is an affectionate bean. Like he can read people well so if he can tell they wouldn’t mind him in their personal space, he’ll get close. Bump shoulders playfully, pats on the arm, maybe lean on them when hes in hysterics after a joke or something. That also means he’s more than happy for someone to act just as close to him too. He quite enjoys it, makes him feel welcome and needed.

I made this a mini series whoops. It just sorta happened that way. This is Part 2, a continuation of this ask. :p 

Part 2

So maybe it wasn’t the best idea. But that was because it was Theo’s, Not the best idea, but a fun one. After his little sulking party, Nick realized that getting out of that house really helped clear his head. A lot. Theo had taken notice too and saw an opportunity to maybe have another outing again, but this time with their little cousin. It was stupid, but thanks to Leo who forgave Nick for his previous behavior, they set out on a plan.Leo would once again stay behind with their aunt, but would volunteer to help out with ranch chores while the brothers were out ‘investigating’ for the loan shark. With chores out of the way, Archie could get permission to go with his father into town for the day. 

Now that was the tricky part, getting their uncle to go along with this ruse. But blessed Theo and his silver tongue convinced the kind man that they just wanted a little bonding time with their cousin without the judgement of their aunt breathing down their neck. And much to their surprise, he agreed quicker than they thought. Truly a kind and understanding man, it was a pity Theo’s diagnosis for him was turning out to be true. Maybe that was why he was so agreeable, wanting to live life with the time he had left.  

So Uncle Thomas was out wandering about, saying he’d meet the boys in front of the general store in the evening. And soon Theo, Nick and Archie were finally left to their own devices. “Bottoms up!” Nick chuckled downing a shot with his cousin stuck between him and Theo. Archie coughed but bravely choked down the liquid and set the glass on the table. “Good on ya, gets easier the more you do it. You’ll get use to it.” 

Yaaaas the bby boah <3 

Leo’s mind is constantly wandering and he gets this spacey look on his face when he does. People mistake his quietness for being dumb or not thinking of anything important, but hes most likely recalling a book he memorized or making up a new story to write down later. And its become a bit of a common habit for the boys to just be lounging at camp, like Nick cleaning his guns, Theo reading a medical book and Leo’s just spacing out or taking a really long pause from writing and one of his brothers will go ‘whatcha thinkin’ about Leo?’ and Leo will always answer honestly, even if its kinda dark or weird. It could range from ‘the morality of man’ or ‘when mom took us to the lake’ or just ‘horses’. The responses help give them a good read on his mood and Leo really appreciates that his brothers give him space but also keep him involved when he feels like it.
