I’m not sure if it tastes like cactus, but this sure is a good cup of tea. AND, their packaging is pretty, too....little pieces of art! The blend from @nmteaco is super clean and crisp. Green rooibos has a much different flavor than the red rooibos that we’re more accustomed to. Green rooibos is not oxidized, and it has a higher level of antioxidants than it’s red counterpart, coming in pretty close to the antioxidant levels in green tea. The light orange-ish brew kind of tastes like a cross between a green tea and an herbal. Herbal with a mild floral note is what I’m getting with this particular blend. Top that off with fruit and citrus from pineapple and orange peel and you have yourself a refreshing cup that’s perfect for all day sipping. My super sized sample had enough to do a cold brew which, I actually enjoyed more than the hot brew. On ice with a little agave to sweeten, this gives good old fashioned southern sweet tea a run for its money! I’ll definitely be carrying this to work in my jumbo tumbler! I’ve been sipping a lot of rooibos blends lately and I am growing quite fond of them (ok, maybe addicted), especially dessert blends. Sometimes I forget how much I love Earl Grey. It was probably one of the first flavored black teas I tried when I started to branch out and explore the tea world. It’s just so classic and timeless! @calteas Earl Grey Premium has to be one of the most high quality blends I’ve tasted. Their premium blend has bergamot essential oil which makes it very aromatic and EXTRA delicious. Loose leaf Earl Grey is one that I’m super careful with when I brew (I tend to over-steep!). The water temperature, tea measurement, and steep time are important in creating the perfect cup. I followed the exact directions on this package and added a splash of milk…perfect in every way. I got to do a fun thing with this brand: I actually got to speak with their Even Vice President! That’s a first for me on this journey. That really added a personal touch to my communication with them. And something extra special: this tea is blended in my hometown! HOUSTON, TEXAS! @teaintexas blends their small batch teas weekly, by hand in their magical tea kitchen. If you’ve never experienced small batch teas, let me tell you…there is a BIG difference compared to mass-produced teas. The freshness of this brand was obvious as soon as I opened the box. Every ingredient stood out! Spices, fruits, nuts, herbs…I could smell every delicious ingredient. I have to say, this is the absolute freshest tea I’ve had in a long time; and I’ve had A LOT of tea experiences! I’m not being partial to my hometown…this tea is insanely fresh. So, how does it taste? First up is, of course, Houston Hero. Black tea (Ceylon, my favorite), almonds, and caramel. There’s sweet little almond and caramel bits that dissolve into creamy deliciousness as it steeps. (Also, I may have picked a couple of them out to taste before brewing). The perfect balance of flavors and just right all on it’s own, BUT when I added a little agave and almond milk…creamy, heavenly, rich, and smooth. If you read my previous review on one of the @beaswellnessteas blends, I hope you also had a chance to visit their website. All of these teas are targeted for different ailments and/or benefits. From immune boosters to stress support, Bea’s is a one stop shop for health and wellness teas! I’m super impressed with the quality of the ingredients in this brand. The freshness and flavor of this tea was just more proof of the love that goes into blending these healthy brews. This blend has turmeric which is one of the top contenders when it comes to fighting inflammation. I love the earthiness of turmeric; especially when it’s blended with ginger (another inflammation fighter). Along with the benefit of those superfoods, you also get a clean fruity flavor with just a hint of spice from cinnamon. I finished off the rest of my sample in a cold brew with a little agave to sweeten…it was amazingly refreshing! I still have one more blend in my rotation to try and I’m very much looking forward to that! Let me first point out: the aroma that came from my tea mail package was so amazing; it was mouthwatering. I got such a nice gift from @the_tea_time_shop_ , complete with two honey spoons and sachets to fill with this wonderful loose leaf. The flavor selections from this company are soooo tantalizing. So many wonderful flavor blends to choose from. I had a tough time choosing my first brew from my samples! When it comes to rooibos, I’m not a fan of it by itself, but when it’s blended with the right ingredients, it is divine. This blend is no exception; it is spot on! Lemon and raspberry are such a perfect flavor combination in any food or drink. This tea takes those bright flavors and adds the warmth of rooibos and the slight bitter bite from lemon peel…absolute perfect combination. A great choice as a dessert tea or perfect as an all day sip since it’s caffeine free! Amazing flavor, very fresh, and, did I mention the aroma? HEAVENLY! This was a healthy sized sample so, there’s just enough left to pop into my cold brew bottle.
