Monday Reflection: Who’s Doing the Learning?
A student once told me his parent forgot to do his homework.
That moment stayed with me.
Support at home matters—guidance, reminders, even sitting beside a child while they work. But there’s a difference between supporting the process and taking it over.
When someone else completes the work, the student misses something essential— the chance to think, to struggle, to make meaning.
And in the classroom, there’s no one to step in.
If students are going to grow, the thinking has to belong to them. That’s how learning transfers. That’s how confidence develops. That’s how academic excellence is built.
Support matters. But so does ownership.
