I’m not grading any more of theses essays
They’re SO bad and I’m not going to sink hours of my time into grading something that obviously needs to be retaught.
Frustrated. Disappointed.
But this is what teaching is sometimes right? Gotta be flexible and meet the needs of the class. I expected them to do something that they’re not ready to do quite yet.

I made up a Harry Potter-esque wizard duel game for my kids to help them review Latin/Greek root words. Several of them showed up with their own spells they’d written based on the roots and they also brought wands.Â
I’ve just never been so nerdy proud as a teacher as I was today.Â
Sometimes I wish I had a job where I could just simply call in sick and be done with it. But no, I've got the job where I've got to write semi-coherent sub plans at 6 a.m. and phone in for a sub and stay awake until school starts to make sure that they got a sub and know what to do etc.
First day back at school began with almost a foot of snow, which doesn’t cancel school...we’re pretty ride or die here. A nearly forty minute commute due to said snowfall. And the students all complaining a whole lot about all the assignments due before end of term next week. Also essays. Essays to grade.Â
