#Repost @chrisjwills (@get_repost) ・・・ Two new birch bark tea caddie’s made by @koreneva_beresta with carved lids in Lime by @tatbalcarvings. Turned knobs in bone by me. This wonderful project has taken a while to pull together. Svetlana ( from Russia)made the boxes in birch bark with stitching in pine root. Totally amazing . Tatiana (also from Russia) carved these astonishing lids with what she calls bass wood. I understand is what we call Lime. Great to carve. Finally the turned tops( by me in the UK) are made in camel bone. After many months work this has been a great collaboration now ready to keep our Lapsang and Earl Grey tea. Tea was pivotal in the history of Britain in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Additionally, at that time, the tea & opium trade were interlinked. Wooden Tea Caddies were made early in the 18th century, it is not until the second half of the century that they were  introduced  in any numbers as a home style accessory.
