Oh I felt all of that in that chapter of In Sickness and Health. Childbirth is hard as hellā¦. Iāve done it twice. I canāt imagine pushing a baby out feet first though. My oldest my daughter was born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice and they didnāt even tell me anything except that I needed to push as hard as I could. I canāt imagine what was going through peoples head in the 1800ās when they didnāt have the choice to save both mother and baby when a Caesarean section was needed. That was beautifully written. I felt the entire thingā¦.from Benedictās pleading with his Queen to come back to him, their three princes and their little princess to Sophie realising that her family needed her more. š§”š§”š§”
Would you believe me if Iāve told you Iāve never given birth?
Everything Iāve written on the subject has been from research.
Because Iāve also got Violetās birth from a Modern POV plotted in my head Iāve done ALOT of research⦠(and trust me even with modern medicine itās not much better⦠in fact I think it might be worse š) Sophie flatlines and has to be rushed to emergency surgery
Feet first is one of the most dangerous and itās always a C section now but in the 1800s they used to do this.
But they still now try and move a breech baby manually and apparently it hurts like fuck according to a friend.
But Iām glad you were able to enjoy it! It was meant to be harrowing and painful and be the worst experience of both of their livesā¦
I wanted to write something like I did in ATWFD where Sophieās literally in the middle ground and has to make a decision⦠so literally Sophieās choice⦠move on with her mother or go back to her familyā¦
But donāt worry Sophie panic is short lived and weāve got a lot of joy and happy tears coming in the next chapter š§”
