for the musical ABCs: FUCK HOUSE
Hah, of course youâd pick that. For this!
F:Best film soundtrack?Answered here!
U:Music for university/career or hobby? The former, at least in my case. I would love to spend my entire life performing, it gives me such a sense of joy and fulfillment and soul-lifting excitement. The feeling after Iâve performed with an orchestra is just incredible, and I would be so happy to do that for a career.
C: Your favourite concerto? That Iâve played? The Reinecke flute concerto is so so so pretty and I love it with all my heart. Itâs got some really lovely melodies in it.
K:Your favourite key?D major, with F major a close second. I have no idea why.
H:Haydn or Bach?Bach, probably because Iâve played more of his stuff. But Haydn is pretty cool too, so idk. Itâs hard to pick a favourite.
O:What is your favourite orchestra?...You expect me to choose? I mean, in terms of actual professional orchestras, the Berlin Phil is pretty damn good, without a lot of the sketchiness of the Vienna Phil. I also love my stateâs orchestra to pieces, theyâre really really good, and my teacher is one of the flautists there. In terms of orchestras that Iâve played in, then my stateâs youth orchestra, without a doubt. The repertoire, and the calibre of musicians, is fantastic, and it makes it amazing to be a part of.

E:Your favourite ensemble? That Iâve played in? Or just generally? Or type of ensemble? Well, for the first two, see my answer to O above. And for the third, idk. The four types of ensemble Iâve been in - orchestra, wind orchestra/band, choir, and chamber group - are all completely different, and all have their good points. Band is so much more chill than orchestra, a chamber group is really sweet and intimate, and choir is just fantastic, to be singing with so many other people and just making a world of sound. But overall, I think Iâd have to go with orchestra - the sheer breadth of amazing repertoire, and the fact that you can be a part of something huge, but at the same time still get heard as distinctly your own voice (as a flute, anyway), makes being a part of an orchestra something incredible.
