Another week of movie news approaches as the release is just around the corner (there will be something tomorrow morning in fact), but on a more personal note, the second anniversary of To Chase a Butterfly is also just around the corner! I should have a related announcement soon, but for now, here is a relevant silly story:
Last spring when I was close-ish to wrapping up TCaB, I was talking in a discord chat and someone there made a joke about meeting Tsukeke in Philly because it sounded funny. And I was like it is funny you say that because I have a business trip in Philadelphia next month. Scary coincidence. So here’s Tsukeke in Philly. I took this picture, it’s real
Bonus:
does Mangle say bi rights?
((Fun Fact: I, the creator of this blog, am in fact bisexual.))
wow... the new Sabrina show really chose not to have Salem talk... when John Mulaney was RIGHT THERE...

(Personal Project Announcement) Coming Soonish! To Chase a Butterfly: The Deluxe Ebook Edition!
I was going to post this announcement on the 25th for the fanfic’s second anniversary but…that’s the day the movie comes out (given time zone difference) and thus there will be more important things to discuss, so let’s get this out of the way a few days early…
You read the header right—to celebrate the 1st anniversary of TCaB’s completion, I’ll be rereleasing it as a direct-download epub in full-fledged ebook format! (For free of course.) Here’s a sneak peek at the updated design:
It’s a book book now. No more block text! No double spacing between paragraphs! Indents! Even a custom divider!! (I was gonna do first-letter drop caps too but it didn’t look that good, you’ve been spared some of my pretentiousness.)
In addition, I’m going through the entire story once again to make light edits, such as fixing typos and repetition, minor dialogue changes here and there, and maintaining style/term consistency between earlier and later chapters, including a major fix that should have been in the initial upload to begin with—“Reality Pen” will be a proper noun now. (As a reminder I am an editor by trade for like my actual job so this is probably stuff that bothers me but you didn’t even think about until literally just now which means I’m causing my own problems but eh.)
I also plan on adding a bit of interstitial page bonus content! I’m still working out what exactly that’ll be but I have a few ideas. To be clear, I don’t currently plan on writing any new material, but I wouldn’t lock something like that to the ebook edition forever anyway.
I’m not sure if anyone actually needs this to be honest, it’s mostly a pet project to make myself feel good, but I think it’s gonna look really cool and make the novel-length word count much more justified! Because of the movie’s release I decided to shift this to an ending commemoration rather than a publication commemoration, thus I’m hoping to put this out around the end of August.
If you’re a fan of TCaB, I hope this will be a neat and cozy way to reread!
Guys you won’t believe what I just realized. The Movie 6 premiere date is 6/26 in Japan which actually starts on 6/25 in my time zone. 6/25 is the publishing anniversary of To Chase a Butterfly. That was back in 2024 before we even knew there would be a movie (we only knew there was “a project” back then) let alone the exact timing of it. And the fic itself is loosely based on the older Keroro movies to boot.
What I’m trying to say is I might have psychic powers and/or the universe has ordained that I wrote a Keroro movie
