Another for the Brotherhood - this time their blacksmith. It was surprisingly hard to track down a nice blacksmith miniature, but I'm very happy with this one. The iconic bull's head helmet was from a collection of animal head helmets I finally tracked down, so expect to see Vargo, The Hound, and lots more from the epic helmet gang. Made sure to make it a shining silver for all the times he goes to "polish his helmet".
I really love Gendry as the better version of Robert - wielding a hammer to create rather than kill, one of the smallfolk instead of a noble, and now a knight of the brotherhood. He's one I'm very interested in for his book version as the show went an annoying direction, and he'll presumably be around for the prologue and Red Wedding 2.0 and so on. While painting him I did see the observation that Forley Prester has a bull horned helmet - possibly Gendry's via Dunsen and Polliver, so if he is the prologue POV Gendry might have a chance to get his helmet back!

Edric Dayne, Lord of Starfall
"I never learned the lance, but I could beat you with a sword,” said Arya. “Have you killed anyone?”
That seemed to startle him. “I’m only twelve.”
The young lord of Starfall, squire to Beric Dondarrion, to join the brotherhood. I think the 5 year gap gets a bit played up in the fandom and this probably isn't accurate, but I love the idea that he was due to grow up to be a classic fantasy protagonist with an ancestral magic sword and everything, keeping up the brotherhood's pattern of being fantasy heroes just off page.
This mini is supposed to be Podrick Payne, but with all due respect to the one true squire, I wanted to fill out the brotherhood and get some cool house Dayne representation. I love this bronze scale style armour for the Dornish, and I'm very happy with the ethereal purple and the striking Dayne sigil. I continue to struggle with the Valyrian features on young characters - the darker skin tones make them look a bit haggard, and the platinum hair all-too-easily makes them look like a mini grandpa. That said, I love the classic pageboy bowl cut, and that adds a bit of youthfulness.
Beric Dondarrion, Knight of the Hollow Hill
"Fire consumes. It consumes, and when it is done there is nothing left. Nothing."
Another go at Beric, one of my all time favourite characters. One part King Arthur, one part Robin Hood, one part Jesus, one part Odin, and more than a few parts from GRRM's horror background - it's a potent mix, and Beric is one of those characters where it feels like ASOIAF has tapped into the raw essence of mythology. I always took a perverse joy in how much the show struggled with Beric - getting rid of him ASAP in their early 'low fantasy' days, then once they started leaning into Jon as a very straightforward Campbellian hero they had to address the fact that there was already a resurrected hero fighting the good fight for the common man against the apocalypse, and Beric had to awkwardly show up and say "yep, I have as much claim as anyone to being the protagonist... I've just been offscreen for 4 seasons".
The big feature of any Beric miniature will always be his flaming sword, I tried a slightly simpler lighting effect on him this time and I'm really happy with how it came out. Everything about this miniatures pose and design seems really well thought out to give those layers of light and shadow, and different materials to reflect the fiery glow in different ways. I also love that it gives the image of a guy who might have been a knight in shining armour once, but he's been living rough for a long time. As part of that falling-apart vibe, I added the broken shield, which was also a lovely chance to show off the beautiful Dondarrion sigil.
