Robert Kincaid is a man without a home, travelling from place to place in search of something. Everything moment fleeting and documented--trying so hard to contain it in perfect frames. This is easily seen through his plain green shirt and his blue jeans. Specifically the colour; they’re both solid. Just plain green and plain blue. He is grounded in himself despite such changing landscapes, even if he doesn’t know what he is searching for, he knows what he wants when he sees it. There is almost no hesitation when he asks Francesca to go with him.
She on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Her sea-green, turquiose, aquamarine dress cannot pick and choose simply what colour to be. Francesca Johnson is Robert coloured with hesitation. Funnily enough, her dress is a mixture of his own plain blue and green. She cannot decide, she cannot let her love be named, she is lost in the spaces of ambiguity for fear of being boxed in and closed off. And yet, that is exactly what she is. Her choice in the end was to let him leave alone but never quite letting him leave her heart.
The most prominent costumes worn by Robert and Francesca lay bare their characters desires and ultimately their futures, designed by 안현주 An Hyun Joo, modelled by 박은태 Park Eun Tae and 옥주현 Ock Joo Hyun.
