literally just his name lmao. it’s just SO messy that even scar himself couldn’t read it, which was made clear by the fact that he couldn’t remember writing it and wasn’t able to believe that it was his (which he would have remembered if he could read it lmao)

you wanna know why he wrote his name on it?

it’s because it marked it as his. back with SEE, there were very few things that were his, least of all a wheelchair. having his name written on it reminds him that it’s HIS—no one else’s.

(he insisted that it was because he wanted to remind himself it was his wheelchair when he couldn’t remember, but the rest of the giggs crew had doubted that, and learning that even scar himself couldn’t read his handwriting only confirmed it <3)

So, it mentions that the longest time Grian was left dead was a week, and Impulse also said in To Reap What You Sow that Skizz's revive effects get much worse the longer he's dead, and that was just a few hours.

So I guess what I'm wondering is what were the revive effects from being dead for a literal week?

oooh good question!!! yeah, that one was definitely pretty rough for grian :D he was probably so out of it for days upon days (maybe longer) that he was almost non-functional, maybe even to the point of being unable to eat or take any care of himself.

from scar's perspective (because I think scar was alive during that week? I can't remember if I said anything about it lmao), he probably only thought that grian was being HELD by the watchers for whatever reason. he probably knew it was a punishment, but there wasn't anything he could do about it without getting punished himself (or, worse, increasing GRIAN'S punishment). so he was horrified when the watchers gave grian back, completely disoriented and out of it and almost entirely unable to move for the first day or two. scar probably would have had to carry grian back to their apartment, which wouldn't have been easy for him (physically or mentally).

it was probably pretty rough for everyone involved (except the watchers) :D

she definitely has!!!! the first sticker she puts on is of a video camera, since she is the Only One who is good at setting them up correctly. the next one is a cartoon ghost holding an ice cream cone (gem likes to get ice cream after investigations <3)

some others she put on:

a #1 Dad sticker that she refuses to clarify if it was meant for Impulse or Skizz

a bisexual flag (yes TBHAU!gem is canonically bisexual no there will not be any love interest for her or anyone else because that’s not what the story is about but it is still important to me <3)

a cartoon book (she loves reading)

a number of little golden stars - it was a tradition that impulse started to make her feel better about her revival-induced nightmares. after she has a nightmare, she gets a gold star that she gets to put on the mug <3

depends!!! it's locational in the sense that any store is locational (like, you're more likely to contact them if they're closer to you because you hear/know more about them), but there are no real locational boundaries. it's not SUPER competitive, though - there are few enough ghost hunting facilities that they're more likely to help each other out, if need be, if only for convenience (this goes for all facilities except for SEE lmao)

gem does!!! she doesn't know it, because it's normal to her, but she's Very good at sensing the energy. there's a reason she likes to stay in the van - it makes her uneasy!! second is impulse, but his was built up over years upon years of working at it :) at hermitcraft, Scott has the best paranormal perception. that's part of why he refuses to do any field work at all :D

not too big!! they probably only have 4-5 real teams, with only about 1-3 people each, plus supervisors and stuff. figure 25-ish people? but that's not counting where their threads stretch - that would be a much larger number ;)

yes!!!! the files in the archives are sorted according to which are more sensitive (which is decided by the leader of each group, who gives Joe or cleo a heads-up before they receive the recordings of the investigations). with the non-sensitive ones, Joe and cleo like to race through them and see who can find the first one with ___. so for example: the first one with a Revenant as the ghosts, or the first one that that had to call xisuma for a ride - stuff like that!!!

it's kinda both! everyone gets a base salary from xisuma no matter what. this salary can Easily keep a person alive and comfortable (though, if that person has a history of struggling financially, xisuma would have to be made aware so he can help them out; the salary isn't REALLY enough to get out of that sort of struggle, especially if there are other factors at play!). but in addition to that salary, there's some extra pay for each investigation. of course, for any Hermit that doesn't go on investigations, there's an addition to the salary :)

yes there are!!! I'm not Totally sure what counts as an unlikely duo lmao, but people like - for example - Lizzie and Zed get along really well!!! we haven't seen Zed yet I don't think, but he's there!!!! he's like the mad scientist of hermitcraft and does most of the experiments with revival patches :D Lizzie really appreciates how eccentric Zed can be, and Zed appreciates the level of ~whimsy~ that Lizzie has, and how it (of course) is mixed with a certain amount of morbid curiosity :D

pretty rare, but not TOO rare? most people have some amount (like a sixth sense, almost), but it's usually not much, and they don't pay much attention to it. people with high paranormal perception can either sense the ghosts really well or can flat out see them at all times - though, these people are REALLY rare, and they usually prefer to stay away from paranormal investigation for their own sanity :)

they weren't allowed to turn on the lights (because they were told it would destroy the breaker), so it was way more difficult to find one!! they also were never told to LOOK for one, so if there was anything they may or may not have seen in the dark, they just chalked it up to a weird shadow!!

nope, not everyone!!! some people were in similar positions to scar and grian - just poor people who got stuck in a bad situation, but then couldn't just LEAVE. however, scar and grian were treated Much worse than them. the others got the stuff with being watched all the time and the strict rules and the lying, but only scar and grian got the punishments that they did - among some other things that I can't share yet ;)

same thing that happens with a lot of other ghost stuff!!!! things like a lot of negative energy, unfinished business, quick/untimely/violent deaths - so yeah, the people he found definitely Could be there as ghosts. not everyone with those things becomes a ghost, but considering the circumstances, they have a pretty high potential :( grian didn't realize this when he was back with the watchers, and by the time he learned about it (at hermitcraft), he was too scared to go back and check

she hadn't had any REAL experience - mostly because she keeps getting rejected after job interviews, and any places that take her either 1.) offer her not Nearly enough money to survive on, or 2.) treated her badly. that's why she needed some training when she first joined! as for her first paranormal experience - I think that gem is the type of person to have always kind of *sensed* ghosts, even if she couldn't see them. so maybe she was one of those really creepy children that would point at dark corners, and she only realized what was going on when she got older!!

yes, pearl would consider investigating!!! in fact, on their first investigation back after impulse's possession (which, wow, that was a long time ago, wasn't it?), she joined them to keep scar and grian rom freaking out :) Scott, however, Does Not do field work. it's one of his few rules - he'll do just about anything except field work!!! bad past experiences with ghosties :D pearl will do it willingly, though, if it makes anyone feel more comfortable!!!

yes, there are!!!! here's my favorite: one time, jimmy got possessed lmao. the ghost that possessed him had some sentience left, just like that one demon did (the one that possessed impulse), but it wasn't malicious!! it just stuck around in his body for a day or so lmao and Joel and lizzie (the other people in his ghost hunting group) noticed that he was acting weird, but didn't Really have an explanation. at the end of the day, "jimmy" went up to them both and said "tell him thank you for me, for letting me feel one last time" and then just. left. they didn't have to send someone in to get rid of it; it left on its own. jimmy was Really Confused and they had a LOT of reports to fill out for xisuma lmaooooo

yeah, they just have to load the person into the truck and bring them back to hermitcraft. all trucks are stocked with extras to try to keep that from happening, but it HAS unfortunately happened, and that's the only real (safe) solution. they always do everything they can to make the person comfortable, even though they're dead and can't feel anything, and then they take very good care of them as they wake up <3 no one knows what the limit of the revival patches are; no one has reached them, yet! generally the rule is to Try not to go over 24 hours, to be safe, but as we all know, a week (or more) can technically be okay :( it'll just mess you up for longer :(((

oughhhh I came up with an idea for it one time but I was in the m middle of something so I didn't write it down.... let me try to remember!!! I think that a small group of the older Hermitcraft members (people like Xisuma, Keralis, Joe, etc) had been doing some sort of paranormal investigation, but all of the facilities they joined were doing things "wrong", in a way - it seemed a bit too cruel/inhumane to them, especially since these ghosts were PEOPLE at one point. so they decided to make their own place!! bit by bit, they started collecting people, and it became more of a family than a job <3
