didnt want to put this in the tags on the last post but it used to make me upset that traโnsmโasc shuโicโhi was the most popular fandom interpretation of him back in the ndโrvโ3 heyday. like i get canonically on-screen he's a guy so its more popular to headcanon him as a tranโs guy but i always felt like it kind of ignored his relationship with femininity. there were also less-than-charitable people who made him a traโns guy so he could take on a Particular Role in their yaโoi fics but that kind of happens in every fandom.
its kind of the same way i feel about laiโos from dunโgeon meโshi. anytime there's textual basis for a trโansfem reading of a canonically male character, i see a dozen more traโnsmasโc interpretations pop up even if they don't make sense almost as if trying to drown out the idea that god forbid this character could be a tranโs woman
