Ehhh just finished rereading tbasawas and I have a question!
If itās not spoilers what are the skeletons jobs? And are they very rich or just well off
Hello!!!^^ Iām honored to hear you like my silly little story enough to reread it!!
Not a spoiler at all so Iām happy to divulge :3 (as usual, I will be yapping and you will receive far more information then you asked for lmao)
The guys definitely struggled at first, especially when it was just the classics that emerged from the surfaceā it took awhile for Monsters to get working rights, and to figure out what their citizenship status would be, so earning money and finding housing was tricky.
By the time underswap emerges, the classics have a run down little apartment. Comet runs his Hot Dog stand and works two fast food jobs while he works to get his PhD recognized by the human government. Star works in a grocery store and as the āMonster Mascotā while humans are still wary of Monsters.
When classic and swap Monsters are told they must form packs, the skeleton family realizes that their shabby little two bedroom apparent is too small for four grown Monstersā so they pick up a couple more shifts while Blue and Stretch wait to receive IDās and working permits. And once they scrounge up enough money, they find a slightly larger condo.
Itās two bedrooms with an office and an unfinished basement, both of which are transformed into more bedrooms. Itās not ideal, but itās works.
Comet gets his PhD recognized and starts working as a high school science teacher, still picking up part time shifts at his fast food job whenever he can, but he can afford to quit the other.
Star gets promoted to manager at his grocery store job and his social media presence does well enough that he starts earning a little bit of income from that as well. His work as mascot does a lot to help better humanās perceptions of Monsters, and relations run smoothly for the most part.
Stretch works wherever and whenever he can. He picks up odd one-time jobs and seasonal jobs. Working at flower and produce stands, manual labor gigs and anything else under the sun. Sometimes he runs Cometās old hotdog stand or works as a cashier at classic Muffets. Stretch doesnāt work to have his PhD verified.
Blue works a lot in construction, as they arenāt very picky as long as you work hard. Itās tiring ļæ¼and dirty, but pays well enough that he can make around the same amount of money as the others. Although that doesnāt stop him from picking up other odd jobs!! Barista, bartender, security jobs- nothing is too much for the magnificent Blue!
Theyāre definitely not struggling as much as before, but things are still a little tight. At the very least, Star and Comet have stable and secure jobsā and there are also programs to help Monsters that are struggling financially. So thereās that!!
Well- until UnderFell joins the chatā¦
The arrival of UnderFell turns the humans, and therefore the human job market, against Monsters for a little while. Despite their best efforts.
And the pack is once again faced with a reoccurring issue.
Thereās not enough room.
Ensue a frantic scramble and shuffling of rooms and spaces while the skeleton pack tries to gather enough funds to move, once again, AND deal with the sudden surge of human vs Monster tensions that are on the rise.
Itās a lot harder for Fell Monsters to gain working permits, let alone a job. Red takes whatever is willing to pay him under the table. Bouncer gigs, transportationļæ¼, security. Even a couple of the more shadier things. Heās not picky, money is money and heāll be damned if he spends one more night with one of the marshmallowsā
Edge⦠is very hard to employ. He tries for the military but they wonāt even consider taking him until his mandated therapy is complete. And with the track heās on now⦠itāll be years until then.
Edge settles for phone scam jobs where he gets to intimidate weak minded humans into paying for overpriced items. He very quickly becomes their top employee.
Within the next few years, tensions have settled, better jobs have been acquired, and enough money has been saved that they can afford a proper house in the middle of nowhere.
And by proper, I mean a run down, out of date, most likely haunted, hundred year old house that is just barely within their budget.
Itās not great by any means, but itās good enough while they once again save up money, to fix it.
Over the next couple years, Comet gets a better, higher paying job at a prestigious college working as a professor, making the most out of his now multiple PhDs. He makes pretty good money, even if he has to deal with snobs all day.
Starās social media presence has really blown up in the last couple years with his expert handling of the UnderFell debacle. His following has been growing since day one of the Monsters emergence, and now it brings him in quite a bit of money. Enough that itās almost overwhelmingā
He starts to expand his reach on other platforms, and his income nearly doubles. People do collaborations with him and ask to sponsor him often, heās alway being sent free things from companies in hopes that Star even being seen with their products will boost their sales.
Needless to say, Comet and Star easily bring in the most money.
Blue has solidified his standing within the local community and really enjoys watching it flourish. Heās brought on to the police force not long after establishing a community watch program on his own. Itās inevitable that Blue slowly makes his way through the ranks and becomes a beloved face and proud protector of his community.
As the stress and need for money lessens, Stretch eases out of a few of his jobs to focus on something more relaxing. Like growing weed. People pay good money to get high, and Stretch uses plenty of his own product, so itās a win-win.
Stretch hadnāt really thought much of his writing until he sent in a manuscript of his for shits and giggles once while he was high. He certainly hadnāt expected to have it be accepted and publishedā and most certainly hadnāt anticipated its popularity-!
And with popularity, comes royalties. And letās just say he definitely thought he mustāve been high off his ass when he saw those numbers.
Edge has been (slightly) reformed and no longer scams people over the phone.
He now scams them in person.
Kidding!!!
After Blueās nagging and the side eyeing from his therapist, Edge leaves his position as No.1 scammer and searches for a new job.
Somehow, Edge is now somewhat of a popular character on Starās channel. After he kept appearing in the background and viewers kept inquiring, Edge has made a few appearances. Scowling into the camera and snarking at the live chat whenever the flood of ābbgā and emoji mashes come in.
The people love him and honestly everyone in the skeleton pack is a bit baffled. But Edge reluctantly goes with it anyway, and through social media, discovers personal fitness trainers.
A whole new world is opened to him, and using his small bit of fame and a few connections from Star, Edge gets his certification and and now works as a personal trainer. Blue is very proud Edge is no longer illegally scamming people (and no longer fears having to arrest him), and Edge gets to tell people what to do. Itās an all around win.
Red finds more permanent work at The Hearthstone casino. A high end casino run by UnderFell and Classic Grilby. Red works as head of security as a bodyguard for VIPās and a bouncer. He gets paid well, gets to rough up people who donāt follow the rules, and gets free drinks. Heās living the life.
The skeleton pack lives a a decent middle to upper middle class for a solid few years until SwapFell arrives.
Itās not as bad as when UnderFell came crashing through, as theyāre more prepared and have ample space, but it does take a bit to get used to.
Black and Grim get settled quicker now that there are more programs in place. Grim pretty quickly establishes himself as a digital artist and gets a degree in cyber security. He gets paid pretty well in commissions, and Star even pays him to do branding designs for him. A win-win as it very quickly spreads word on Grimās serviceās.
Black struggles a bit more then his younger brother⦠he ends up working under Red for awhile while trying to find what heās good at. He dabbles in growing teaās in his free time in one of the greenhouses Stretch lent him.
Things are pretty settled until Horrortale comes through.
Itās new, and well, horrifying. Itās hard for Bear and Sparrow to leave the house, let alone find work.
Star takes advantage of his influencer status to work from home, keeping an eye on them while they find themselves.
Sparrow makes a lot of things with his anxious energy, and a few of his items end up around the house and are inevitably seen by a few of Starās viewers. Cute plushies, massive handmade nest boxes, knitted blanketsā things catered towards omegas. Something people sorely needed.
Itās no surprise when Sparrow is asked if heāll do commissions. Which spirals into making an online shop, which turns into a physical one, and then into multiple stores and finally a chain of stores around the world. Needless to say, Sparrow makes money.
Bear is a bit more low key in his success, finding enjoyment in baking and growing produce along side Blackās tea. And at Sparrowās prompting, the two of them combine their interestās and buy a small shop together.ļæ¼
The BlackBear Cafe is a hit in their community, selling baked goods, fresh produce and hand made high quality teas. Grim even designed their logo.
So!! as a wrapā
Comet works as a sought after and respected ļæ¼professor in a very esteemed collage as well as a private tutor in his free time.
Star is a full time influencer. He does work from home and out in the world, doing hair and makeup for people and helping style clothes. He does a lot of collaborating and crowd work at events and does a lot to help any cause or charities he can.
Blue is captain of the police force, as well as Community warden along with Edge, Black, and Star
Stretch is a best selling author of a popular book series, he also grows and sells weed.
Red works as the head of security at the Hearthstone Casino doing bodyguard and bouncer work.
Edge works as a personal trainer, and sometimes works with Star on social media
Black makes and sells teas at the Blackbear Cafe with Bear
Grim works as a cyber tester, showing companies where their weaknesses are and how to fix them. He also does art commissions and sometimes works with Bear and Black in the cafe.
Bear works at the BlackBear cafe with Black, selling baked goods and freshly grown produce that he grows and prepares himself.
Sparrow is the owner of a growing global brand called The Sparrows Nest that sells items for all dynamics and is the most well made and non harmful brand around.
All in all, they make a fuck ton of money, but itās hard earned. A pretty upper class pack.
Uggghh itās 1:13 amā¦. Sorry if it got rush towards the end, I am eeepy and have work in the morning but I wanted to get this done āš just a girl in the worldā¦. Sorry for typos I literally am so eep rn

Ok so, this is about TBASAWAS (I think I got that right?) I went through your whole blog and saw that no one else asked this but I gotta know, how do the dynamics work in your au? It's clearly not the normal A/B/O dynamics we see, and I'm so curious about what each one means, what are the functions and stereotypes associated with them, how they affect a pack. Just all the info you can give me, I'm so curious (and I may want to steal it for my own fanfics if thats ok).
Oooooooh!!! Very happy to explain!!!! Iāve been waiting to info dump on this for SO long you donāt even knowā
Also, feel free to use any ideas youād like, Iād love to read anything you write using them :D
(Iāve had people in the comments of the fic itself ask me some questions, so Iāll be copying and pasting some of the stuff from there as well, in case it looks familiar.)
So to preface this, I want to say that I consider the dynamics as an open box. You are put in the box, but the top is not taped shut. Like how introverts naturally find comfort in being alone, but sometimes they want to go to a loud concert and have some fun. An extrovert may want some alone time every once in a while. Itās not a rigid structure, they are more inclined to do or want certain things, but theyāre still people with individual shifting wants and thoughts!
I think that their personality reflects and grows off their dynamic, but thereās always some wiggle room.
Now that thatās outta the wayā
āāā
First off, in my universe the designations are as follows! In descending order of the hierarchy (based on their perceived worth to the community) we have:
Sigma
Gamma
Alpha
Beta
Omega
Delta
Although Sigmaās are in an iffy place, sometimes considered above Gammaās, and sometimes considered below Deltaās. They hold the title of āThe Imperfect Perfectā, and sit somewhere outside the rest of the hierarchy, being placed more as individuals than as a whole.
As for pack hierarchy (based on how important or useful) we have:
Alpha
Omega
Beta
Gamma
Delta
Sigma
As far as the hierarchy goes, itās a pretty loose term. I think of it like how generally people who are more outgoing, social, energetic, etc are considered more āpopularā. Like how a really charismatic person might get a job offer over a less charismatic person, even if the latter has more job experience. An Alpha would have an easier time getting a job in manual labor, or some big professional job. Whereas an Omega might receive a more dismissive response and given advice to look for something āmore suitedā to them. So not blatant āIām on top youāre below meā but there is an existing ābiasā of who should go where.
How Does This Whole Dynamic Thing Work?
Alpha, Beta, and Omega are the three primary dynamics. Think of them like primary colors! They are made up of a pure gene: A/a, B/b, and O/o respectively.
(If youāve ever learned about Punnett squares, youāll know how this works.)
So basically in my head, (because I can find absolutely zero fics with dynamics other than the ogāsā) Deltas, Gammas, and Sigmas are like halfbreeds, or mixed colors! I.e. Red and Blue equals purple kinda thing.
Depending on what gene is capitalized, that will be the dynamic they pull the most from.
Iāll use Stretch as an example:
Stretch is a Delta. Deltaās are a mix of the Omega and Beta traits. They can be either O/b or B/o. Stretch is O/b, so his primary traits are Omega ones.
Whichever gene (O), (A) or (B) is capitalized, or up front, is the dynamic they take the most traits from. In Stretchās case, (O) is capitalized, so he would mostly smell/take characteristics of an Omega. Which is why Nerma likes his scent so much, because she herself is an Omega. Like-dynamics will be more comfortable with other like-dynamics by nature.
āāā
Here are all the possible types:
Sigma: A/o O/a
Alpha: A/a
Gamma: A/b B/a
Beta: B/b
Delta: B/o O/b
Omega: O/o
And hereās what the boys and Nerma are!
Star: A/o Sigma
Sparrow: O/a Sigma
Edge: A/a Alpha
Red: A/b Gamma
Grim: B/a Gamma
Comet: B/a Gamma
Black: A/b Gamma
Blue: B/b Beta
Bear: B/o Delta
Stretch: O/b Delta
Nerma: O/o Omega
(Donāt worry, I have to keep them all in a list too, itās a lot to rememberā)
Most packs range between four-twelve people, with larger packs being more common. Packs can be made of friends, family, mates, or simply out of convenience. Itās pretty common for packless individuals to get together and form a pack, as itās more financially/emotionally stable for all of them. Think of it like friends renting an apartment together, or someone making a listing for roommates.
What Is The Population Like?
Children are born neutral, gaining their dynamic somewhere between ages 7-12. Stress may delay or hasten when the dynamic will settle, but it is impossible not to have one.
Gammas are the most common among the population, no matter what AU they come from. They are crucial to any pack, and are (socially) considered one of the most well rounded of the dynamics due to their Alpha/Beta mix of instincts. Good enough leaders, with enough Beta in them to not get too competitive.
Speaking of the mixed dynamics! While Gammas are considered the best of the three, and the most useful thanks to basically acting like a less volatile Alpha, Deltas are (unfortunately) perceived as almost useless. Due to their mix, they are not able to use either of their abilities fully, and many people view them as merely a second best to the real thing. Then you have Sigmaās, who are considered perhaps the most dangerous and unstable of the dynamics. More on that later.
Primaries (Alpha, Beta, Omega) are the least common, and different ones are even rarer depending on the AU. E.g., thereās more Alphaās in harsher AUs like Horrortale and Underfell, but in Underswap there are more Omegaās.
Sigmaās are the rarest of the dynamics, as it takes a certain kind of environment to produce one. The O/a variant of Sigmaās is generally unheard of. (Which is what bbg Sparrow is.)
Is It Possible For A Dynamic To Change?
99% of the time, you are the dynamic you will always be. But in very rare cases, if you are born a primary, one of your genes can change. This typically happens because of a traumatic event, and is irreversible.
When the soul finds itself in a continuous state of extreme distress, Iām talking life or deathā it will save itself in the only way it can: by demanding a new set of instincts. Sorta like how the human brain can develop an extreme case of the Fight/Flight/Freeze/Fawn response to an almost debilitating degree.
This is considered an extremely traumatic experience, especially on top of whatever event caused it. Shifters, are considered heavily unstable.
Almost all shifted Sigmaās become feral.
What Are The Abilities/Characteristics?
All dynamics possess scent āglandsā: parts of the body that are densely packed with magic that disperse scent and are primarily used for social bonding and communication.
Scents themselves change with moods. As an example: Stretchās natural scent is honey and lemon, a mild, sweet and lightly citrus scent. But when distressed the scent can take a more sour, heavily acidic note. Counter to that, when pleased or extremely comfortable, it can take a much sweeter, almost candy-like scent.
There are no strict rules on who can smell like what. You can have Alphaās that smell like vanilla and marshmallows, and you can have Omegaās that smell like firewood and ozone. Itās really a mixed bag of what can happen, as scents begin to develop before the dynamic is set.
All dynamics can scent others, along with leaving mated marks. Mated marks are temporary, and need to be reapplied more or less frequently deepening on how strong the Intent that was used. Typically placed in visible points on the body, Mated marks are bites given by romantic partners that are seeped with Intent. What kind of Intent, is dependent on the relationship.
āāā
Those with an Alpha gene (Sigma, Alpha, Gamma) have a vocal ability called a ācommandā. Itās speculated to have developed as a way to establish dominance or to assert control over a larger mass of individuals. Perhaps used to convey hunting orders within a large pack.
Itās a way of speaking that's heavily drenched in magic and Intent. Itās effective against all dynamics, but especially those with Omega genes (Omega, Sigma, Delta). Even more so against non-pack individuals.
A command sits in the mind, echoing with deeply laced magic and Intent that takes hours, or even days to dissipate if not followed. It demands to be obeyed, for whatever task to be completed. Ignoring can cause various levels of mental and physical distress. It sits there like an intrusive thought, ringing, echoing, demanding. Pack members will have more of a tolerance to it than a stranger would, but even then it is used rarely.
In modern days, itās considered vulgar, and slightly even immoral to use on non-pack individuals. And while not outright illegal, you can face prosecution if you are found to be abusing the ability.
āāā
Those with the Omega gene have a vocal ability dubbed as āthe distress chirpā. It is a sound identified by the sharp, piercing nature of the noise that instills a sense of urgency into any dynamic, but more strongly felt by A-geneās.
Speculated to have been developed as a defense mechanism against aggressors, the noise punctures through the thoughts of those that hear it, immediately instilling a need to soothe and protect. Continued exposure to the sound may cause heightened aggression to others near the O-gene individual, along with feelings of metal and physical distress.
Pups are also capable of producing this sound.
āāā
While the Beta has no unique sound, they do possess a specialized neutralizing scent. Itās thought that the skill originally developed to mask scents while hunting, or to escape being hunted.
The scent is devoid of any emotional triggers, and can be deployed in high stress situations to cover the scent of others and induce a calming effect, similar to laying a blanket over an animal. It eases communication and allows an emotional reset. This is why every diplomatic setting requires at least one Beta to be in attendance.
Mixed B-gene types (Gamma, Delta) will not be able to produce this specialized scent as effectively.
āāā
Heats are something all dynamicās go through, the frequency is different for different species of Monster, but generally occur once yearly.
Heats are the body's way of balancing magic. Itās a time where you are forced to rest while your magic recalibrates, switching through different hormones like itās a damn party. Itās an intense, and a deeply private event. Even longtime packmates may seek seclusion during this time, as it can bring out your innermost-self, making it very easy to descend into a feral state.
Heats can be sexual during certain points, especially as you get to recalibrating the more spicy hormones. During this time, it is common to experience heightened, and even a prolonged sense of sexual arousal/frustration. It is also common for individuals to find themselves to be more sensitive than usual. It is recommended to seek relief during this time to prevent worsening feelings of need/pain.
There is also a general sense of tenderness that persists throughout the experience, like a dull ache or full body bruise.
(Basically a heat in this universe is extremely similar to a menstrual cycle)
āāā
Heats can range between a few days to a week. Most O-gene individuals become drowsy, pliant, and heavily dependent on their packmates, seeking physical comfort and rarely leaving their nests. In rare cases, an O-gene may become feral, brought to base instinct where safety and comfort is all they seek, such individuals may need to be commanded to eat, or do basic care in such a scenario.
A-gene individuals may become fussy or particular during this time. Over scenting packmates and becoming increasingly aggressive to any perceived threats while they are in this delicate time of reset. The best way to get through to an A-gene individual that has become feral, is with a distress chirp. Distress chirps will force any feral A-gene to immediately focus all attention on the assumed āO-gene in distressā, allowing them to be coaxed into tasks like eating or backing down from an attack.
Those with B-genes experience heightened anxiety during heats, cleaning, cooking, scentingā itās a hard battle to get them to stay in one place. They will also be extremely emotional during this time, and may need constant emotional and physical reassurance from their packmates. A command or distress chirp would both be effective in the case of a feral slip.
For mixed-gene individuals, the type of heat they experience may flip between the two, or alternate between years.
How Do They Exist In This World?
Deltaās, Gammaās, and Sigmaās can be seen as slightly unstable due to their mixed genes, Sigmaās especially.
Alphaās and Omegaās are on opposite sides of the spectrum after all, what can you expect to happen when you mix both into a single personā A perfect balance?? Only if you're lucky.
As individuals, they struggle a lot with their identity, torn between instincts to lead, provide, and follow, nurture. An Alpha thrives best when leading a pack, they gain a massive sense of fulfillment from caring and providing for their matesā but that can feel at great odds with the Omegaās want to be cared for, to surround themselves with a pack and follow a leader they trust with their whole soul.
It might not seem like a huge difference, but for a Sigma in a world that pressures you to be perfect, to balance both or snapā it can feel like walking a tightrope over a chasm.
How can you lead and be led at the same time? How can one care and be cared for at once? How can you be everything and nothing but perfect?
Sigmaās can accomplish great things, extraordinary things, things no one has ever done beforeā but only if theyāre in complete harmony with their instincts. Otherwise⦠Well, any dynamic can go feral. Sigmaās just have a statistically higher chance.
āāā
Alphaās are the go-getters, they get things done and they do it well. They thrive on challenges, but are often known to become too competitive. They work well in high up positions, but may become slightly aggressive while climbing the corporate ladder.
They also work well in physical jobs, as their natural competitiveness leads them to work faster, longer, and harder than other dynamics. But this is also often to their detriment. Alphas who work physical jobs should be monitored closely.
Alphas who continually lack feeling of success or accomplishment may begin to suffer mentally. It is recommended that packmates provide small feats or challenges for the mental enrichment of those with A-genes.
Alphaās have a deep-rooted, extremely insistent instinct that demands to find and form a pack. They need someone to provide for and protect, and those who donāt have an outlet for these instincts may imprint on random strangers as their soul's way of seeking relief. To avoid this, many Alphaās acquire pets, or volunteer to take care of others.
(This reoccurring issue has led to the development of āfostersā, where those who require attention and lack a pack can be cared and provided for by a rotation of A-genes. This includes pups without parents, the elderly, the disabled, and others who are suffering from not having a pack. It is one of Monster-kindsā greatest accomplishments)
āāā
Gammaās are considered the best option for competitive workplaces like office jobs, and make up a good majority of the workforce. They use their Alpha genetics with their Beta instincts seamlessly, working well with others while also having a healthy sense of competition.
They are thought of as the most balanced of the three mixes, and are more likely to receive a pass on slip ups than the other two.
Being the most common dynamic of the population, they are considered the majority, and thus weigh in heavily on decisions made for Monsterkind.
āāā
Betaās work a lot in delicate, high stress jobs. Their ability to help neutralize any and all emotions makes them good politicians, and they do a lot of good work in the medical fields. Especially as therapists, as their neutralizing scent allows their clients to process their thoughts and emotions without becoming lost or overwhelmed.
Betas are mandatory in working with Ferals, as their ability prevents any damaging emotional outbursts to worsen their condition.
Betas have an innate instinct to keep the peace, and may become distressed if continuous attempts to soothe result in failure. Any Beta working a sensitive job must take mandatory breaks, as using their ability often with no sense of success can lead to far more painful heats when their body attempts to reset.
āāā
Deltaās are are sometimes lost in society, unable to fully use the Betaās ability to ease conflict, and not as good at soul connections as Omegaās. This leads them to often be dismissed in the corporate world.
In packs however, they are incredibly useful. Their unique mix of abilities make them incredibly talented at reading and deciphering intent, allowing them to help facilitate deep communication. They work well with Betaās and Omegaās to help keep harmony within the pack.
They also make very good salesmen, or service providers. Though most end up working in retail, or in customer service. They take a lot of the more 'undesirableā jobs in the market, simply because the other dynamics are seen as more useful in other positions.
āāā
Omegaās are intensely nurturing by nature, and feel a great sense of comfort by caring for others. This makes them wonderful in medical, hospitality, and caregiving fields.
Along with that, Omegaās have a deep-seated need to feel safe, stable, and secure. Omegaās lacking in any of these will begin to suffer emotionally. To combat this, Omegas are instinctively driven to form deep, incredibly fulfilling bonds with others. They make themselves the heart of the pack, encouraging emotional growth and stability.
There is an popular outdated ideal that trivializes many omegas positions in the pack as simply āthe heartā, making them the soul emotional outlet of the pack. This leads to an overworked, unconnected, and neglected omega, as the street needs to run in both directions for their abilities to work without incredibly dangerous strain on their souls. (Reminiscent of how many women ļæ¼are treated in relationships today)
Omegaās thrive when giving and reviving care in equal amounts, and a well cared for Omgea can lead to great emotional satisfaction to all parties.
Allow an Omega to trust you with the entirety of their soul, and they will show you a world of colors you didnāt know existed. An Omega who is fully bonded to their pack, will feel secure enough to freely use their abilities and intensify any bond they touch.
How Are Skeleton Monsters Unique?
Skeleton Monsters have a distinct way of communicating that is highly specific to their species. Being made of bone, it makes their bodies extremely conductive for magic, especially their teeth.
Teeth are very significant in their culture, as damaged teeth can lead to an individual being completely cut off from their style of expression. Broken or damaged teeth are akin to losing feeling in your hands, and the mental distress from the sudden isolation can cause a skeleton to Fall Down.
Missing teeth must be replaced with highly magic-conductive material, and must be carefully integrated into the body's preexisting natural leylines. Replaced teeth often have a heightened sensitivity.
Skeleton kisses are also very unique, as they donāt have lips as many other Monsters do. A skeleton kiss is where their teeth are pressed together, (this most often includes nuzzling) and bits of magic spark or hums between them. Kisses in skeleton culture are considered more intimate than in others, due to the more private nature of the magic shared. Along with how highly teeth are regarded in their society.
Due to the conductive nature of their teeth, bites have many culturally significant meanings. In public, affection is displayed through chaste nuzzles against the cheek, temple, or skull.
Pressing teeth to the knuckles or back of the hand is a way of showing respect, deference, or affection depending on the Intent. And while it may look odd or scandalous to humans, gentle bites to the wrist or along the jaw is a well known sign or romantic, or sexual interest respectively.
Shoulder bites are mostly playful in nature, and are often given by siblings, close friends, or packmates.
Neck bites are extremely intimate, as the neck and spine of a skeleton are highly sensitive. Biting or nuzzling the neck of a skeleton is a deep show of trust and affection, thus, this is almost exclusively done in private. As doing so in public could be viewed as inappropriate.
Moving away from teeth, skeletons in general are an extremely physically affectionate race. Touch, and the Intent behind it, are incredibly important, as Skeletons are much more sensitive to such things.
A touch-deprived skeleton may experience symptoms of soul Null, I.e., heightened aggression, temperature sensitivity, emotional instability, time blindness, weakened health, and possible feralty. It is imperative that skeleton Monsters form packs and receive a constant source of physical touch.
A common greeting between two skeletons are cheek nuzzles, as it allows the shared feeling of excitement or happiness to be expressed in an non-intimate manner.
Where Do They Fit In The Pack?
Generally speaking, personal pack hierarchy is pretty lax. Some people may have stronger opinions than others, but people usually just go where they fit best. Other than that, there are some guidelines they tend to follow:
Sigmaās work best towards the upper middle of the pack's structure. Not the sole leader, but not just a go-with-the-flow follower. To flourish best, they need to balance their instincts to lead with their counter instincts to follow and nurture. Theyād work best as a second or third in the power structure.
Alphas work best on top, of course. Their need to provide and drive to lead makes them optimal leaders in a pack setting. They work best as the number one, or in the case of multiple Alphaās in larger packs; they form a council where they share the number one spot.
Gammaās are very good at middle-upper management, often acting as authoritative peacemakers. It scratches that itch to protect and to neutralize conflict. A good choice for any leading Alphaās left hand.
Betaās are the perfect middle, helping to keep the pack moving smoothly and ensure communication stays open. They are the perfect meditators thanks to their innate desire to keep peace and fix problems.
Deltaās are lovely homemakers, working diligently on creating spaces for every member of the pack. Their unique mix of caretaking, along with their neutralizing instincts makes them quite fierce and loving protectors.
Omegaās are considered the heart of the pack, reinforcing bonds and facilitating deep emotional connections. They help to take care of the pack's emotional and instinctual well-being, using their deep-rooted instinct to nurture to keep the pack well balanced.
How Does The Boyās Pack Function?
Edge is the ultimate decision maker of the pack, in charge of most major things that affect the pack's welfare. While he usually calls for a vote, sometimes itās necessary for him to make the call himself. This power has been entrusted to him by the pack itself. Besides that, he does a lot of checking in with the pack and ensuring everyone is properly taken care of.
Black takes care of the pack's budget, managing what money goes where and making sure bills get paid on time. Heās the one that files their taxes every year. The pack trusts him as their financial advisor, and all big purchases go through him first.
Bear is in charge of making sure the house stays properly stocked with food. He gets a lot of the householdsā produce from his gardens, and has carefully documented lists of each member's preferred foods when he goes to the store. Heās also in charge of regular meal plans, and he keeps the schedule on a whiteboard he remakes every two weeks.
Blue is the mediator, heās in charge of keeping the peace and smoothing out disputes. Along with that, he works surveillance for the household and keeps up with the security. He does regular patrols of the forest, if only for some of the other residents' peace of mind.
Red works on general home maintenance, keeping things in working order and fixing all the wear and tear that come with having a pack of ten adult Monsters. If you break something, you better hope itās not something a Red has just recently fixedā or be prepared to pay for the wasted time. Heās also the one that keeps up with the pack's cars.
Star does most of the cleaning, as he has a particular way of having things done. Itās a big place, but he enjoys the challenge. Thankfully the house is full of skeletons, so he doesnāt have to worry about too much dust or hair accumulation⦠he will be very cross if the cats decide they want to cause chaos and ruin his freshly cleaned floors though.
Sparrow tackles the outdoor maintenance, tending to the gardens, cutting grass, and handling the upkeep of the greenhouses. Anytime someone tries to convince him to take it easy because of his condition, heāll repaint the color of the shed. He quite enjoys the exercise.
Comet stocks the house with regular supplies; things needed for cleaning, hygiene, maintenance, things for their dynamics, etc. Any need the house has, Comet supplies. Despite being incredibly lazy, he takes the job very seriously, and has several dedicated lists and charts to remind him when to stock up on what. Requests are sent via a specific group chat.
Stretch is in charge of managing everyoneās medical needs, tracking medications, scheduling doctor/therapy visits, and generally just ensuring the health of the pack. He is also the unspoken nest maker, perfecting and fixing any of the nests in the house that are looking a little worn down.
Grim manages the packs various internet presenceās, keeping track of emails for business opportunities, tracking social media, upkeeping their business websites, dealing with possible breaks in securityā if itās something involved with tech, heās on it.
Black, Edge, Star, Bear and Blue take turns cooking, While Sparrow, Red, Grim, Stretch, and Comet rotate on dish duty. More often than not, both cooking and dishes are a 2-3 person job.
Besides that, they all tend to help out with each other's roles, so the pack is pretty efficient.
OKAY!! I think this is all the random information that I can come up with unpromptedā damn. 4309 words, Iām so insaneā¦
Anyway! Thank you again for the ask!!! I hope I answered most, if not all of your questions! Feel free to ask more, or for more clarification on something if your confused or curious, Iām always happy to ramble :3
In your fic tbasawas was there anything specific that inspired you to do your specific stories and or ships?
Yes and noā
For the story itself:
Originally, I only had concepts for Aeiisy, a dark fic with a skeleton reader who is constantly having a Bad Time. But, as with most of my ideas, it got split into two different paths. (This is how I end up with most of my fic ideas btw) You might see a few similarities, or even direct reflections between a few of my works, and thatās because they are all directly or indirectly formed from a few of the same ideas, split into separate paths.
Like an au I guess???
Tbasawas was made as a direct counter to Aeiisy, so I wouldnāt pass away from angst and could have something sweet a fluffy to write whenever I got burnt out. (Ignoring the amount of angst that ended up in Tbasawas anyway⦠and the fluff that got put into Aeiisyā¦. Donāt look at me!!)
So Tbasawas was inspired by Aeiisy, and Aeiisy was inspired by the need for a skele reader, Monster Frisk, and an apocalypse fic. Not sure how any of that connects, but thatās how it went down.
Tbasawas is a soft apocalypse, if thatās even a thing. Their changes arenāt gory and the world isnāt riddled with war and violence. Just people treated like lost puppies in a cozy adoption center waiting for their āforever homeā. For the most part.
I take a lot of inspiration directly from animal adoption processes. The whole shebang. Paperwork, wait time, vetting, inspections, background checks, introductions, acclimationā Hell, even the Assigned Nurse can be compared to a Foster. The Mimic Monitors are essentially juiced up microchips.
Iām pretty sure I even used a templateļæ¼ for the adoption of a dog from a serious breeder for the letter that Abbee gives Nerma to explain to process. And the email Edge receives ļæ¼ in chapter one.
Thereās a lot of themes in Tbasawas going on. Another one is the grieving process, as hinted at in the title of the first chapter. Arc one: Shock.
Iām using this version of the grieving process in particular:
Iām not sure how strictly Iāll follow it, but itās definitely there in the background, at the very least.
As for inspiration for the relationships:
Itās all kinda based around these themes and how I think the characters would be changed by them.
Iāve changed these characters a lot. Maybe not much physically for most,(that you can see.. wink wonk) but Iāve taken a lot of liberty with their stories and backgrounds. And in the tags for Tbasawas, this universe is listed under post neutral route⦠not pacifist. Do with that information what you will.
Based on these changes, I think about how they might act. What makes the most sense. What they feel, what kind of person would they feel most comfortable around and what kind would they hate? Do they have insecurities? Are there any fears that they might be judged? Would that stop them from getting close to specific skeletons in the pack? *cough* Sparrow *cough*
Are they jealous or possessive? Holding on to the one good thing thatās happened to them and waiting for the other show to drop?? Even if it hinders the others ability to seek out relationships with others of the pack??? *cough* Red *cough*
I kinda just zone out and smash dolls together in my mind until I get something I like. Not all that cool of a process, but itās what works for me.
Speaking of! Letās use Red and Sparrow as an example!!!
*grabs my mental dolls of Red and Sparrow in my hands and smacks them together*
*loud incorrect buzzer sound*
Yep. Knew that would happen. Seeā Red is chill around the pack, but thereās not a lot of⦠feelings??? He has this disconnect inside him, whether from his LV, his trauma, or if thatās simply just how he handles his emotions, Iām not sure.
Thereās this wall that he has up. He cares for the pack, and for his brother, of course he does! Heād kill for them. That was never in question. Heās just⦠distant. The only one who can really, really get close is Comet. And thatās mainly because theyāre so similar it hurts. Theyāre in the same, sinking boat. Drifting out in the middle of the ocean as they keep hammering in nails in hopes they wonāt drown.
Red is heavily complex, and no one knows just how to solve him and tell him to stop making so many damn holes in his boat before itās unrepairable.
Heās smoke and mirrors with knives that will cut you if you take a wrong step.
Sparrow, is also withdrawn. But for very different reasons.
Heās not shy, per sayā but heās very conscious how he looks and how heās perceived. He knows that heās not as handsome as he once was (lies), he knows that he looks frightening, even to other Monsters.
His self esteem is very low, itās been getting better thanks to his pack, but itās still not great. He hides a lot of things about himself, whether out of shame or for the perceived benefit of the other person is a 50/50 at any given moment.
His status as a sigma doesnāt help. There are already enough stigmas about people like him and Star, if Sparrow canāt do whatās expected of himā if he falls into stereotypesā
ā¦he doesnāt like to think about it.
Heās not as able bodied anymore, and his senses are both dulled and heightened to uncomfortable degrees. He needs to be able to trust the people around him.ļæ¼ He needs to know that they wonāt think lower of him for his weakness. He needs to know that he can depend on them and they wonāt just up and leave.
Red has given no indication that he is capable of providing any of those assurancesļæ¼. He has in fact proven quite the opposite.
At this point in time, Red and Sparrow could never be in a relationship. Sparrow would likely end up cut on Redās knives and shattered glass, and Red would keep hammering more fucking nails into his boat. Unaware that itās the very thing that keeps brining in more water.
Augh. So long story short: insanity.
The idea for the story popped in my head and then I stared at characters until the imploded in my brain like a super nova and then they kept forming fun new galaxies for me to explore.
I guess itās my characters that give me inspiration. I just wanna slap my dolls together and see wtf happens, I have no idea where Iām going and Iām equally as surprised as you are at every chapteršæšæšæ
I just wanna see Edge be soft and have his little found family, and to feel like heās allowed to exist in the world despite his sins.
I wanna see Grim be an absolute menace and Get Bitches, because he loves his idiots and just wants to live life at his laziestļæ¼.
I wanna see Bear put a ring on as many hoes as he likes and get to be happy and smug and purr as he crushes them (lovingly) in his nest.
I wanna see Stretch be soft and fuss about his mates and then punish them for their stupidity with various ļæ¼pranks.
I wanna see Star huff and lovingly bully his mates into being kind to them selves, forcing them to take it easy or face the wrath of Self Care days.
I wanna see Comet get yoinked out of his tiny shell and actually mean it when he smiles his little bastard smiles, and to be able to reach out and form other relationships within the pack.
I wanna see Black get his ass Wooed and his icy rain bloom into spring showers because he feels loved and able to be soft and love in turn.
I wanna see Blue live his life to the fullest and prioritize his own feelings sometimes and remember that itās okay to want things.
I wanna see Sparrow have each and every one of his boo boos kissed and told that heās handsome and I want him to accept it and be confident.
And I wanna see Red get a happy ending. I want to see his sharp edges, both the ones facing inside and out, to get smoothed out. I wanna see this bastard get soft and mushy. Iām gonna turn his ass into a grumpy marshmallow just you wait.
And of course, I want to see Nerma be the spark that gets this thing moving.
i hope thereās a reason the collar has to stay on or else im a bit judgy of the boys right now. rules donāt matter when all youāre doing is re-traumatizing someone, it shouldāve come off once they were home.
There is a reason, many reasons. The current world weāre in has many, many intricaciesā especially surrounding Mimics and the rules enforced upon them, at least until they are deemed adjusted enough.
Unfortunately, the current rules donāt account for people like Nerma, because Nerma is a massive outlier. She is not the majority, the experiences sheās had are just one tragic event after another, and are by no means the generalized ļæ¼experienceļæ¼
There are laws that state that a Mimic must wear a collar at all times until said Mimic is released from that packās custody. Taking it off now would only cause more harm, as they would have to put it back on every time she left the house, otherwise Nerma could be removed from their custody.
The collar works as a form of protection, identification, a tool for acclimation, an emotional stabilizerā and much more.
Edge pushed a pretty big line to put that collar on her wrist instead of her neck, and will have to consistently defend that decision to any authority ļæ¼that asks.
My characters are not perfect, nowhere nearā but they do the best they can with the limited power they have.

possibly contreversial but idc what abee is doing her not being here is unacceptable
Thereās a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, but I promise that Abbee would 100% have been there if she could. The things sheās dealing with are a lot bigger then her, or even Nerma.
This could possibly be the biggest, most horrific scandal in the history of Mimicāsā so I think itās understandable if Abbee had to follow her moral obligation and immediately help to put a stop to widespread suffering. Not to mention all the legalities sheās suddenly entangled inā
At the risk of running through the entire character count on Ao3ā Iāve elected to post this as a makeshift Q&A here

Question 1: Yes! There are many other high ranking families around. I think Iāll probably end up focusing mostly on Harperās family and Luneās family, but Iāll definitely delve into others from time to time. Especially because fictional politics is something Iām incredibly obsessed withā just wait until we get into the balls and parties. The drama! The glamour! (Iām very excited for a specific scene I have in mind.)
The other family that Iāll get into is Luneās family. Lune, as we have only briefly met, is a bat Monster. Heās a Nexus born, and his family is considered to be very high up. Like, only a few steps down from the royals, kind of high up.
I donāt have a updated drawing of him currently, but heās fairly tall, and more on the lanky side. Heās got the upside heart-nose that some bats have, and heās a dark bluish-gray color. Heās got dark hair that covers his eyes, and very large ears that I absolutely adore. I havenāt decided whether or not his wings should be on his back, or connected to his arms like an actual bat wouldā¦
Here is the first version of him I came up with. This was before the class system idea ended up getting implemented, (so heāll be much more fancy looking now) but the core design is there:
Yknow the saying, āMoney talks, wealth whispersā? Yeah, thatās pretty much the Seyboldsā vs the Sotirisā. (Harper vs Luneās family.
The Seybold family prides itself on rigid rules and tradition, as many other families do. They adhere to many of the rules from centuries past, while also picking and choosing when they see fit.
Servants are owned and are to obey without question. They are not meant to be seen, or heard. (Edith was firmly against this, and all the staff she had have been employed by Harper.)
Children are to fear and obey their parents. To speak out against them is to commitļæ¼ family treason. (Besides Kristen because sheās the golden child.)
Males inherit the business, females are to marry into high standing familyās and grow their parents fortune. (Again, Kristen is the exception. Somewhat.)
Every āfailureā requires punishment. Reputation means everything, do not attempt to sully it. (Harper typically takes the fall for most of Kristenās mess ups, as well as typically being held to a more sever standard.)
You are to always act as if being observed by royalty. Smile pleasantly, stand proper, dress for excellence, do not offend, lift the egoās of those above you and squash those who stand below. Typical aristocrat ļæ¼rules and behavior.
Lunes family, the Sotirisā, believe that those who wish to follow you will do so of their own volition. Loyalty is better won with respect then with antkiller. Or however the saying goes.
They operate more on a system of codes and ethics. Theyāre more reactionary then needlessly cruel.
A servant accidentally slips up and ruins a meeting with some very important figures? Accidents happen, may be removed from more important duties for awhile. Minor consequences, more training.
A servant has maliciously compromised their security? Hunt them down, make them disappear. Quietly.
Their rules are easily bent if needed. Thereās no family hierarchy. Whoever is most interested in inheriting the main family line can speak to their siblings about it, and if needed, come to a compromise.
Children are nurtured, they are the future of your legacy. Raise them to be better then even you. Build them to greater heights, and hold them up when they fall.
All in all, the two familyās are quite different.
Question 2: I basically use the same five AUās in all my stories, with a few variations to make them feel unique. And I think I came up with a few of the names myself? Either that, or theyāre just not ļæ¼often used, so I completely understand the confusion!!
There will be an official rundown in the story later, but for now hereās the headcount!
UnderTale or āOrigin verseā: Star is Papyrus, Comet is Sans
UnderFell or āFell verseā: Edge is Papyrus, Red is Sans
UnderSwap or āSwap verseā: Stretch is Papyrus, Blue is Sans
HorrorTale or āHorror verseā: Sparrow is Papyrus, Bear is Sans
SwapFell/FellSwap-verse: Grim is Papyrus, Black is Sans.
Adding on to that, my Grim and Black fall more into the SwapFell category, meaning a Swap sans and papyrus that got āfellifiedā. At least thatās how it works in my mind. The fandom distinction is pretty confusingā but for me, Grim is a fell version of Stretch, and Black is a fell version of Blue. Hopefully that makes sense ^^;
I donāt have dedicated sketches for the boys in this story, but these drawings for my other fic give a good enough mental image. Just imagine then a little more worn-for-wear looking. More depresso and more espresso. Fresh out of their nuetral run verse and having witnessed The Horrors.
Question 2.5: Each of the guys have their own reasons for their interest in Kristen. Some may be for friendship, some may be for connections or power. When/if they cut Kristen off will be entirely dependent on their own motives. So some may leave sooner then others, especially if they see the way Harper is treated after they get to know both sidesā Others might stay out of spite to Harper ;]
Question 3: The first Monsters to appear were a classic variant. They emerged from the mountain many years before the Nexus started pulling in other verses.ļæ¼ The first verse to be pulled in was a storyshift variant where a Shyren was queen. This is the founder of the Seybold family.
If youāre unfamiliar with the term āstoryshiftā itās basically a type of AU where everyone gets shuffled around into different roles while still maintaining their original personality. In this case, Shyren is queen of Monsterās.
Side note! Super sorry for the confusion, Metty and Lune are the bondmates, Harper and Lune (and Metty) are more queer-platonic friends. Harper is their beloved third wheel UvU (I love them sm)
They are pretty close, and in-universe they would basically be considered a couple?? Lune gave Harper a collar (with Mettyās blessing), and she excepted. There are many reasons as to why, but to everyone else itās a sign that sheās off limits. Especially because itās engraved with Luneās family crest.
Question 5: Yes!!! Harper has many stims!! She used to do the T-rex arms when she was really young, but that was quickly trained out of her. Now she clasps them across her stomach, far more ānormalā looking.
She also scratches at her wrists and neck, mostly because sheās not allowed to do less harmful (āstrangeā) stims. She only scratches when she starts to feel really overwhelmed.
Her regular stims are far less noticeable, and therefore deemed more acceptable. She taps her fingers a lot, or adjusts her glasses. She really likes repetitive motions like petting her cat, or when sheās alone, rocking side to side.
Sometimes if sheās starting to feel overwhelmed she blinks excessively or hums. Just a short, quick low note that could be passed off as a thoughtful sound.
She has a bad habit of grinding her teeth as well, and regularly ends up with a sore jaw. In the same vein, Harper struggles with keeping her muscles untensed, and it often leads to pain. Sheāll end up fully rigid if she doesnāt take the time to purposely relax. Even when sheās completely comfortable and by herself.
She does tiptoe on occasion, typically in high stress situations where she forgets all the training she went through to not do that.
And unfortunately, you are very correct. Because of who her family is, sheās not really allowed to stim or self soothe, so she regularly ends up shutting down. And very rarelyā she melts down.
Weāve seen a shutdown in chapter two, and chapter three was more of a bad overstimulation moment. Itāll be awhile before we see a full blown meltdownā and it wonāt be pretty.
Question 6: Horrortale is my favorite!! Hands down. Horror sans is bbygrl and I will not be told otherwise.
Other then that, I really enjoy Fellswap Gold. (The one with Wine and Coffee) I havenāt written them yet, but thatās about to change! Theyāre going to be in my Aeiisy? Fic, and Iām superrrrr impatient for them to show up!!
Also fellswap, swapfell, and fell universe in general are my jam. Love the vibes and all the angst opportunities.
Annnnnnnnd Done! You think you talk to much? Do you see how much I just yapped??? I yap like itās a full time job with a 401k and three months paid vacation. It is a disease.
I really enjoyed this! It really helped me get some of The Lore out of my head and set in stone lol. Iām absolutely rabid about my own stories, and as you can see, very happy to ever answer any questions!! (Somebody please put me down I am infecting the masses)
If anything was unclear of confusing, feel free to let me know!
And if you want even more information, thereās a post I made when I was still fleshing out the details of this fic. Some things have changed, but most of the details are still cannon to the story.
Why is red still hostile to Nerma? Edge is completely fine with her he should have no reason to be so mean anymore
Anxiety, mostly! He knows the statistics of nulled Mimics, especially Omega onesā itās not good, and he believes that theyāre more likely to make her worse then to help her.
He was probably hoping that Abbee would see his behavior, and quietly disqualify them as an eligible pack without him needing to directly go against Edgeās wishesā which in a normal situation, Abbee would 100% do. Unfortunately, they are Nermaās only shot.
That, and paired with the fact that Red is the only one who didnāt actually complete his therapy, makes it so his response to stress is not the best.
While his methods arenāt ideal, he does (kinda) have her best interests in mind. He wants her to get help, just not with themā¦
Now that itās official, heāll probably just avoid her, rather than trying to spook her. Even though that was mostly unintentionalā heās naturally gruff and a little threatening. Thereās no point in doing it anymore, sheās as trapped as he is.
